My 325 manual (155k)has suddenly started having problems with the gears. The gearbox has always been loose but has always been smooth and gears have always slid in nicely(apart from the usual first couple of changes on a cold morning).During a long journey they started playing up on up and down changes- needing to double declutch sometimes helped but sometimes just wouldnt go into gear. Was also hard to get first from a halt-it would 'half'go in and then bounce out sometimes. No strange sounds or anything-just done two 200mile motorway journeys fine(apart from gear changes). Is fine for the first mile or so but starts to play up as soon as warm.
I changed clutch master and slave very recently and drove 250 miles with no probs before this started.(and no fluid loss)-I dont know if this is just a co-incidence
Could it be a clutch prob or a gearbox/linkage problem?
Any ideas welcome(need to car for France next week!!!)

god i was just about ot say the slave sounds as if its not pushing properly! do have a check if its operating correctly; i have a feeling its not!

if its not that, then possible clutch release bearing then! but for some reason i think its the slave!

Thanks,
Just had a mate check the clutch over.
Have re-bled the clutch and pedal feels better slightly better, although it was ok before.
I used a quality febi slave and it seems to be mounted properly.
Could there be any other reason the slave is not working sometimes?
Could this be a faulty new part?

the problem is buddy; these damn hydraulics take one with the other. if the slavesp laying up, the master will soon be too!

now given that youve bleed it with new fluid; did you result in be able to get a gear and get them progressively well whilst driving!

if not then i would think its the slave!

Meant to update this sooner:-
A couple of weeks later (after the car hadnt been used much) the problem has fixed itself.
I can only think that it was some sort of airlock/bubbles in the system.
