Problem with Immobiliser My car wont start!!help!!
Moderator: martauto
My Bmw e30 320i recently stopped and hasnt been able to re-start since, ive checked the ignition coil spark and tested it against the body of the car to see if there was any spark coming through, but no luck, everytime i turned the engine there would be no spark out of the ignition coil, ive heard this can be due to faulty immobilisers or is there are reasons for this? i have a clifford 650 alarm. my engine turns but no spark for it to start. also if possible how would i locate the wire for the immobiliser as i want to test it by disconnecting it and then try to start it? if ne 1 cud help that wud be great.thanks!!!

Before you start playing about with the immobiliser check that your crank position sensor isn't dirty. It's located quite low down on the front of the engine and is easy to remove and clean. If it's OK trace the wires which go to it back to the plug under the diagnostic socket. Sometimes the fan blades can damage this wire. Keep us posted!

Connect a 12 volt bulb between the + terminal of the ignition coil and a good body earth, and check that it lights with the ignition on AND with the engine cranking.
i done that and no light comes on when i turn the engine.???? Also im bit confused on which way the ignition coil wires are attached , as i got 3 wires in total to attach not sure which side goes to which whether postive or negative, does anybody have a pic of it so i can see how it should look??

??? What age and model is this? A plain green wire should go to the + terminal (marked on the coil), and a black wire goes to the - terminal.j4ttluv wrote: as i got 3 wires in total to attach not sure which side goes to which whether postive or negative,
Why are they disconnected in the first place?
BECUZ I CHANGED THE IGNITION COIL THATS WHY THEY WERE DISCONNECTED , ITS NOT THE IMMOBILISER IVE HAD cLIFFORD SPECIALIST CUM AND TAKE A LOOK EVERYTHING IS IN WORKING ORDER AND WAS TOLD MY MECHANICS TOO LAZY RATHER THAN LOOKING FOR PROBLEM HE JUS SENDS ME TO CALL ALARM PEOPLE...SO I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT COULD BE, IVE CHANGED THE IGINITION COIL,CRANK SENSOR,DIZZY CAP,ROTAR ARM FUEL PUMP IS WORKIN, FUEL PUMP RELAY AND DME RELAY ALL WORKING ORDER, BUT STILL NO START, IT TURNS BBUT NO SPARK AND ENGINE DOES NOT START? In my last post I asked a second question, which you still haven't answered, and you haven't commented on what your three wires to the coil are when there should only be two.
This is a very simple fault, and very easily solved, but if you want anyone on here to sort it, you must answer questions correctly and completely, and in comprehensible English!

Its an E reg BMW 320i Convertible, im not sure why there is a 3rd wire on the coil i believe it may be the immobilisier or the clifford alarm wire attached aswell but not sure?!? the 3rd wire is with the green wire going to the positive terminal so there are 3 attachments in total on the iginition coil...could that be the problem? but ive never had this problem before it just happend out of the blue?
