Having issues bleeding the cooling system on my e30 318iS, each time I get close it seems to want to boil up on me! do I have to bleed with the expansion tank cap on to avoid this?
Any advice would be massively gratefully recieved as I have got to head over to Spadges to get my rad tomorrow!
Please Help!!

TECH HELP IN THE TECH HELP SECTION, PLEASE!!!
It's the engine you shouldn't have on, as well as the cap.

Ok, how do you then know when the know when the system is fully bled down?- Anyone fancy giving me a comprehensive guide- Dont mean to sound like an idiot but this was giving me a real headache last night!

get the system partially-(spell?) bled by topping up the coolant reservoir and squeezing the top house, that will suck the air out the top and pull water in through the bottom. squeeze it till the water drops down, then top up the water, and repeat till u cant get any more water in. start the engine with coolant cap on and check the water level after it has been run for a short while and top up if necessary
easy.. lol
when i say water you should have anti-freeze mixed in too.

^^^^ What he said ^^^^
You may have to remove the top heater hose from the stub pipe on the bulkhead as well to let some air out.
