Help with finding where this pipe is supposed to go!!!!!

Could anybody please tell me what this clear pipe with the bolt screwed in the end is supposed to do!!!!!!!!

The engine is a 320 auto, car is an A reg early 1984.

Obviously someones done a bit of a bodge job here as you can see in the photos , i'd like to know what pipe it is supposed to be and wheres its supposed to go.

Its connected to the 2nd outlet closest to the camera, its on the top left of the throttle assembly, is it as simple as the cap shown in the last picture from Realoem, item 32?

On my '87 320i manual the hose runs to the distributor and is part of the vacuum advance system - hose "1" in post 5 of

this thread

Some advice regarding searching for finding what should be fitted to your car also supplied later on in the thread.

Tezk you are a star!!!!!!!

Have read the thread you posted, looks just like the same problem see picture below i just took of my dizzy, missing pipe A and associated bits!!!!, pipe b is in place though.



Check out the one form BMWfans i am missing parts 9 to 15, part 9 looks NLA , have to find this vacuum pipe from somewhere else, plus no idea where part 12 is fitted either



Part 16 is not highlighted on the picture and is not on the list, i can only assume that on my car this part is not used, as its an earlier car than yours??.

I wonder if like the Op in your link thread this has anything to do with the really crap economy i'm getting at the mo, full tank = 240 miles ouch!!!!!!!

Have looked again at your thread Tezk and have found part no for item 16 as below from a slightly later car, i am assuming that items 12 and 16 do the same job???.

So will put up thread in parts wanted and check availability from stealers.
