Go to your local independant, cheaper and more knowledgable than dealers and Halfords. And you'll be supporting your local independant retailer.
Though a battery should last more than 2 years? any underlying cause for such a short lifespan? Have you topped it up with de ionised water?

No idea why though?
hmm, well check the belt on the alternator and try another battery I guess but if you can test it with a multi meter a few times over the coming months in different states (ie. engine running, and engine off) too see if there is anything out of the ordinary.
The battery specialist will be able to recommend one based on the power of the one you have now and the stereo system and alarm ect.. you have now.

As the law stands, I dont think you need a receipt for anything your returning as faulty.
http://www.performancebatteries.co.uk are good, and cheap. Search for "096".

I replaced the battery on my 318iS about 7 years ago with an original BMW one still going strong though I've now replaced it with a Bosch one anyway, around £50 from ECP. My local BMW dealer didn't have them to hand - they were only £70.
You'll need a 12V 50amp battery. You can use a 53/55amp if you have a lot more equipment to power like ICE, Heated Seats and other stuff etc,
Check your alternator whilst you're at it.

Why get another then - even if it's free. They're really not that good.wiledw wrote:Halfords swapped the faulty battery without recept no problem.
Got the impression that this was not the first battery they've seen that died very quickly!
