Hello to all you good enthusiats,
I have a 92 318i lx in weak red as i like to call it!
Problem is this:
When the car is running and you're at standstill covering the brake, as if you were waiting at a junction, or you're creeping really slowly in traffic, the power delivery from the box is pulsed, coming in waves, maybe two a second and not continuous as you'd expect.
The car has covered only 73K, fully serviced by main agents and gearbox oil and filter changed.
So, any ideas?
Help appreciated.

could be anything e.g clogged air filter or faulty fuel pump i think you'll have to be more specific about the symptoms in order to get a valueble reply.

Is it creeping because the idle revs are rising and falling?
If so, does it have a cat/lambda sensor?
A failing lambda sensor will cause a rhythmic rise and fall in the idle speed.

www.eurocarparts.com - they do a proper OE fit part for a reasonable price.

Don't just throw money at it, replacing what might be perfectly serviceable parts! Test the lambda sensor you have!DanLondon wrote:There is a lamda sensor and a cat, where would be the best place to obtain a lambda sensor?
It's output should be constantly rising and falling between zero and less than one volt, and most importantly, is should be switching at least twice a second.
