Has anyone had experience with chipping the IS. The tuning firms have huge differences in their power claims and prices. Need advise from IS owners with personal experience of these, please.

Just recently got my iS chipped and i think its great, pulls so much better in all gears.

one thing to note is that there are two types of chips for the iS that depends upon the engine.
We initially got the wrong one, and made the car stutter at lower revs, stalling on round abouts and when driving slowly, but once over 3.5k revs the car just turned into a beast, the acceleration was just mad.

The new chip has solved all of these issues, and the car overally feels much better, with gains across the board.

I Think there is someone off this site that does chips for your car, but i got mine from e-maps, chap called Simon.

I fitted a Viper2 chip to my old iS, t'was excellent. As Sharabi says, make sure you get the right one (it depends on the numbers on your ECU).

Opening up the ECU to fit it takes patience, though.

The power gains were minimal, but it gave a smoother response throughout the rev range IMO.

Same thing happened to me. Bought one on ebay for about 10 euro. It came from america and it was amazing above 3500rpm, and I mean unbelievably more powerful but wouldn't idle.

He sent me three chips to try and solve the problem before eventually refunding me. He even let me keep the three chips, and told me to try and get one for a euro spec car. Sadly they were in the door pocket and got smashed in a bad accident.

Be careful you don't bend the pins on the chip, it's a bitch to line them up again.

I have an Evolve chip in my IS converted touring, this chip has been developed on the rolling road at Evolve and gives around 148BHP, better fuel consumption, better throttle response and loads more mid range power on part throttle.

I have no hesitation in saying "don't waste time and money on cheaper alternatives, speak to Sal or Imran at evolve, you won't be dissapointed"

Or see the Evolve shop on this Forum.
An E30 touring, two E28 M5's and an E28 528i.
