Hi
I have water in both rear wheel wells and there is a spot of damp on the carpet behind the drivers seat. I have no idea what to do or what to look for. Please can anybody help me. This is my first post and I am not technically educated on cars so please keep it simple lol. I own an e30 316i. I luv this car and I don't wanna lose it to rust.

Does a 316i have a sunroof? Sometimes the drain holes can become blocked which can cause trouble.

seals on opening rear windows if it has the pop out items fitted.

Check the seals around the rear light clusters

Pull the carpet away from the turrets in the boot and check the inner rear arches are not like tea bags and as mentioned the sunroof drain hoses which terminate in the rear wells.

I found the drainage holes in the sunroof for the front of the car but I can't locate the holes for the back of the car. Do I have to take the sunroof completely out to get access to them?
Also I am having difficulty locating where the drainage holes terminate. I've took out the carpet in the boot and checked the wheel wells for drainage points but no luck. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking for lol. I've noticed that the previous owner has applied a sealant on the base of the wheel wells. Can you guys help me? This is doing my head in.

its going to be the rear arches. people over look them so much! when water is in the boot it is far more likely it is going to be rotten rear arches than a drain tube! since when does a rubber tube that is fitted in a certain place move? there is nothing in that area to move the drain pipe and they are clipped on at the top of the roof by a crimp style jubilee clip so there isnt much chance of them moving in all honesty.

get those rear wheels off strip out the petrol vapour bottle and filler neck and get poking around with a screw driver with reasonable force at the back of the rear arches where they join the boot and you WILL find rust FACT.

rant over :D

When I had a similar leak on my old 316i it was the plugs underneath the car beneath the rear footwells. Easily sorted with some sealant or a bit of welding.
