Heah all my brake warning light came on at the weekend so i removed wheels... found that p/s sensor was stuck in to disc worn away pads where near done anyway but on further inspection i found that pads where not braking on inside as good as outside pad both sides....

Too cut along story short i put on ebc green stuff pads and new Ebc Dimple and grooved disc what a combination the Anchors on my Sport are serious now unreal brakes what a combo...... Highly recomend them :D :D :D

PS i did`nt know where to post this.......

Ive got mcuh the same combo, but got it all theway round, with S/S hoses too.

My brakes arem cuh better than before, but do feel that 4 pot calipers would be a beeterchoice for next time.

Just dont get that punch when im stopping!

What you've actually done is replace half working brakes with working ones. You'd get the same effect if you'd used new OEM parts!
If you haven't sorted out the caliper slides, then the efficiency of your new brakes will soon begin to drop off.
The grooves, in grooved discs, are simply to allow gasses produced under hard braking to escape, without causing a hovercraft effect and lifting the pads from the disc. Fortunately, modern road pads don't suffer from gassing, anyway.
Similarly, different road pad materials can affect the pedal pressure required (which is nothing to do, within reason, with how effective the brakes are), and can also affect the ultimate fade resistance, which again, is irrelevant to any sane road use.

brian,

Are you suggesting that bmw pads are better than ebc greens. Not meaning to argue, but if they are then im changing them!

I have greenstuffs at the mo,and though i know e30s arent ridicously servo assisted,i feel i lack tht ooomph!

Are oe pads really that good?

OE pads aren't necessarily any better or worse than greenstuffs. The difference will be in fade resistance and required pedal pressure, but I've no idea which is best.
Brakes work by the pads against the disc turning kinetic energy into thermal energy, and then the discs radiating this energy to the air. The hotter the discs get, the faster they radiate the heat, but the pads loose efficiency if they are too hot.
The OE post said the pads were wearing on one side, so one side of the disc was reaching its temperature limit, while the other side wasn't contributing anything like as much as it could = poor brakes.
Thin discs also overheat more easily (and its not unusual to find E30 discs well over their wear limit), so nice new ones are going to more effective there as well.

I changed original pads and discs a couple of months ago(for original bmw ones) although with the right pressure the brakes worked fine, but were worn. After a mile I found out why we "couldn't get all the air out" from the system before that. We could-but the pad(what was left of it) went towards the disc and got to it only a centimeter or so after than the new one does. Unless you're racing I'd say original stuff is more than enough.
I use Ferodo DS3000's on my Swift gti and ithey're shit for(rare) road use. They're built for racing and perform well when racing!
