Hi Guys,
This is my E30, Only had it a short while and am slowly making changes and ordering parts.
This won't be a mental build like some on here, this will be a rolling tidy up of what is a really decent shell.
So, 318is, 1991. I bought it from a friend as I wanted a usable classic I could tinker with and Mk1/MK2 Escort aren't really an option anymore.
It has almost brand new Gaz Gold coilovers fitted.
I would like to make this a bit more 'my own' and although I have gone off the engine change idea, I am very interested in supercharging it.
When it arrived after a good look around I started making a list of things to change.
- Wheels were number 1 on my hitlist, although I like them I didnt like them enough so new wheels arrived.
- I like the Steering wheel but have sourced an Mtech1 that needs a retrim.
- It has an uprated gear lever which feels fantastic to use, the changes are short and positive but again it isn't how I want the interior to look so an original setup had been sourced,
- The car has a light miss and needs a service so parts have been ordered.
- The discs and pads looked a little shitty, so new discs pads and sensors for the front and rear were bought from Mtec, I will either refurb the calipers myself or just buy some that are done.
Drivers front wing needs a little paint on the arch where my pal had it too low and it rubbed and it needs a full machine polish.
Some pics below.

Then I bought some wheels, I was gutted when I fitted just the rears as I didn't like what I'd bought initially but now they are all on I have changed my mind massively and have since sold the gold wheels on.

.
Pic below taken 20 mins apart after I finally got the spacers I wanted, put the centre gel decals on and fitted all 4.

New number plates fitted, just new clean plates with slightly smaller lettering

Nice looking motor, do have a soft spot for an iS.
If you want to liven it up a little without going crazy, get a lightweight flywheel in there, fit a Z3 or E46 Clubsport steering rack and maybe get a remap.
For the gearshift, have you gone for a standard E30 shifter now? There's plenty of short shifting options out there which retain the standard gator and knob.

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments.
I am getting back the original gear shifter which I need as it has parts that I will have to use, even if fitting a Z gear lever which I want to do, but I am definitely after a more OEM look even though the current shifter fees awesome.
I have a purple tag E46 rack but nothing else yet, this will be done around Xmas I guess.
Today I had a couple of hours at the garage, new HT leads and platinum plugs fitted, the misfire it had has gone but there is some very slight hesitation from idle when you throttle hard.
I also fitted some car mats which I bought from carmats.co.uk I went for black mats with black striping, the cost was £47 posted but they aren't that great, to be honest. The fit is pretty shite and it overlaps the bottom of the accelerator pedal and the pax side is short on the top left edge and circular for some reason and the rears are nothing like the size or shape of genuine. They get a 3/10 from me for price V what you get.
I did get a chance to get out my interior cleaning gear and spent a while wiping it all down nicely, I did treat the dash too and the centre console, it isn't shiny but I felt it needed some protection. The carpets need a complete shampoo which I will do another time.
Some pics from today:
Dirty carpets, new mats, and comparisons.

Matt overlap isn't great

Pax matt is shite too, top left edge is circled and short and the whole left side curls in against the side.

Rears are much shorter and a different shape too

Thanks for the comments.

The centre console and dash were cleaned up as well as the door cards and treated as best as possible, they haven't had any love in a while.

as mentioned, the carpet needs a shampoo desperately but I am much happier with the interior now.

The drivers seat bolster, unfortunately, has a small hole which I need to sort as it lets the whole interior down, Any ideas, please?

A couple from the outside, wheels are all on with all badges etc. I have played with all the spacer sizes and know exactly what I need now so will get ordering as I currently have universal spacers which were just for testing.

Those new rims suit the car much better
In regards the weather fabric. M_fabrics_ltd on Instagram have been recreating the cloth and can supply the correct cloth to repair the seat.

So not massive amounts happened in the last 6 weeks, still collecting a few bits.
The front wings have been painted as has the splitter, I would like to do the front panel and the bonnet too that way the whole front is done.
I am still so undecided what to do with an engine, everyone says to keep the M42 and chip/exhaust it for 175bhp but I still don't think that will make me happy, I would love to S50B30 it.

I finally got my car back, well, sort of.
After getting let down by the body shop guys time after time, the car is back with the scuttle panel fitted but still needs some tidying.
The spot welds needs grinding back, and then prep, prime, paint.

Then new met old,
My 125D is remapped, I sold my F31 as it was a few months out of ULEZ and bought this, remapped to 291bhp and 388 lb ft, it really does move nicely.

While I'm updating, the engine bay drives me mad, it needs the waxoily stuff removing.
I started by the strut near the battery just to get an idea.

Small update today, I couldn't stand the under bonnet insulation so I replaced it today.
To do it nicely you need a nice plastic scraper, something to put down when all the crap drops off, I used pallet wrap, some tar and glue remover and a bit of patience.
The under-bonnet insulation was bought from here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264387541079
This is the Tar & glue remover, absolutely fantastic and I wouldn't want to do the job without it: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174289851303 ... SwltxcIJi9

Cheers guys.
In other news, my Uberkaro finally turned up, and even though I checked with the company before buying they assured me it was the right one, IT ISN'T so I am back on the lookout for BLUE Uberkaro material to repair the drivers pull out bolster.

Did you buy it from mfabrics? I have Indigo Uberkaro in one of my cars and spoke to them. It was a couple of months back but he said he was looking at getting the Indigo version done soon.
Nice work on the bonnet. I lost the will to live after one section on my car. It's something I need to revisit so will give the Gtechniq stuff a go.
