Well.... I'm officially in the Baur club. This weekend I bought something, which I believe is pretty cool. I've wanted a blue 318iS for ages as they seem rather rare and I do love the Lazur Blue. This car had been on ebay a couple of times and the owner of it was a bit hard work but after some research and discovering only 28 318iS RHD Baurs were made I decided it would be an interesting car to own.

It has been 'trackified' (christ knows why) so my plan is to remove all the 'racey bits' (already have enough of those) and put it back to standard. Bodywork wise it's pretty straight. Needs a new roof and the drivers seat needs recovering but I am 'covered' on that front as there is a classic car trimmer in the family.

I won't get stuck into it for a while as I want to make sure 'Poppy' is back together and running before I start taking another one apart :D

Crap teaser picture, I haven't had a chance to take any proper ones yet :D

As promised, some proper pics :bmw: the pictures are bit like the ones on a dating site, look great but there'll always be some 'crazy' lurking benith. On the whole it's pretty solid. The carpet is missing so I will have to find a replacement. There is some corrosion on the right sill and it will need to be addressed but on the whole it's pretty good.

When I went to veiw the car I noticed it had a medium case diff in it but chose not to bring it up as there was no mention of a fancy diff in the advert. Well today I jacked it up and... well I'm pretty chuffed to have discovered it has an LSD :D :D There's no ratio tag so I need to check it but that a mega little addition to this motor :drive:

Hi Jasper,

There were only 5 Lazurblau 318iS RHD cars converted by Baur so congrats on having one :)

I've had one of the 29 RHD Baur 318iS models for the last 11 years - one of the 3 black ones.
I know of another 5 x RHD cars apart from ours - all in the UK.

Mine was originally bought it in Northern Ireland & currently on Dutch plates as it moved over here with me.
Soon to be moving back to Ireland but while here I have met up with the German E30 Baur club for one of their meets.

Hey! Welcome to the forum

Yes quite right 1 of 5! Do you still have yours or know where it is now? I've been trying to put a nerdy register together for the 318iS Baurs, so far I only have 6 including mine so I'll drop you a PM :bmw:

While we are here, very little has happened to this car. I've been stripping and selling the 'go faster' bits off. I've been busy with the Poppy and Winston amoung other things so this really is quite far down the list. I did wheel the shell outside and applied G101 degreaser to the engine bay and the four wheel arches before pressure washing it all off. I did this about four times just to make working on it a little less of a grubby affair.
