Am I just lucky or are the fuel tank mounts A common place for rust?

Mine had a bit of surface rust but nothing like that extent.

It is a very common spot. Beneath the rear seats is the rear axle and the holes for the handbrake cables. I guess these are corroded badly, if it is already through. Had to fix this place myself when I kicked out the drum brakes.
