Did a lot of the work last year but being furloughed allowed me to finally finish up and dedicate some time to the engine bay.

Hi TDK
The engine was degreased but the metal parts were all removed and wire wheeled and then polished to create a smooth finish. The smaller more detailed areas were hand finished with metal polish and varying grades of wire wool.
Thanks

I've just bookmarked these to do the engine bay plastics myself. Thanks
Cracking job on the car - the exterior is stunning! Did you use an aftermarket front m tech spoiler or find an original?

It had been a while since I'd had an M40 apart so I labelled it all when removing to make it easier when reassembling. I did whilst furloughed last year so had plenty of time l, not something that I would have done if I needed the car urgently as I would have ended up rushing to finish! PM me if you need any more advice.
Thanks

Hi Alex
Thank you! It is aftermarket, the original was NLA at the time although I hear it is now available from BMW. I have been really impressed with 303, I use it on all plastics now but I originally used it to protect the dash from cracks but it gives such a nice finish I ended up trying it on other plastics and it works great.
Thanks

I forgot to mention the polished metal was given a coat of Gtechniq wheel armour I had left over from my wheels. Megs wax on the rest to keep the bay beading and easier to clean in the long run. Thanks
