Hi I have put an m20b25 in my 318i which had power steering but the m20 didn't as there is no where for the belt to go so I was going to put a manual steering rack on, do they fit strait on or any other ideas thanks

Manual rack fits straight on, but needs the matching lower steering link from the rack pinion to the flexi joint in the steering column, but it's a bit of a retrograde step.
The extra pullet needed for a steering pump simply bolts to the front of the existing crank pulley.

I have a manual linkage available if needed

Unfortunately, the pulley is different, as is the pump and its mounting hardware.
It would be best to buy all the bits from one of our reputable traders, who should know enough to include all the its you need. Parts from a 2 litre are the same as the 2.5.

Thanks Brian, I think I may go with the manual steering as it appears cheaper and less one thing to go wrong
