I did the A roads down there yesterday through consett and darlington, some awesome roads over the border :D

I was way up in scotland Mick the sat nav took me down the scenic route on the way back through your neck of the woods, one I will definatly do again :)

sadly i didn't drop one off i ended up with another turd 8O
after a 600 mile round journey i was heading home fast or i would have called by,

I did expect to see a lot more black lines in Consett now your turd is taxed :D

i'd loved to of been a fly on the wall during the haggle......a Yorkshireman V a Scotsman :D


now that Rav can haggle lmfao,that deal for new old stock parts went on for ages. No one was giving in,that poor bloke looked liked he'd been raped after the deal was eventually struck .

Excellent work Mick. I love this thread that IS has seen a fair few engines.. I have to be honest mind I've read the first ten pages or so and got impatient and jumped to the M52 bits... Will sit down with a brew and read it all soon.

Keep on plugging away..

the sun is out so time to do some work on the car,i have parts stashed all over the place :mad:

had the fly wheel trimmed to 5.5kg :) good working starter motor arrived as mine ist KAPUT ^^^ clio servo £18 delivered from ebay ...

new spigot bearing for the m42 box,got a pic of the part number for future reference also a new prop bearing .

got the water pump fitted,m50 sump on,flywheel clutch gearbox and starter motor all fitted .

drained and filled the g/box with new atf fluid and cleaned up everything with gunk engine cleaner and jetwash .

early start tomorrow :D

bout time you put a decent engine in ya motor mick.! lol

good stuff.

but please dont tell me you bought an luk clutch... :( , i made that mistake with my m52 first off. it slipped from the first week. couldnt handle lighting up the rears from 1st to second.
a second hand sachs clutch i had kicking about did tho, when i changed it.
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better winkeye :D

if the clutch gives me any problems i'll fix it with a new sachs one and fit a 6-speed box at the same time or give up :mad:

nooooo, dont give up mate lol

just do as i did, and fit a sachs unit. they can take the abuse of my right foot and a tweaked m52. so they get my vote 8)

when i bought my new clutch for the m50-m52 jump...

luk clutch's in gsf were 100 quid,
sachs clutch's were 160 quid,
i chose to save a few bucks, but in the end it cost me as i had to pull the engine out and replace with a sachs anyway lol.
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better winkeye :D

i've had clutches with BMW on them but most e30's i've broke have had sachs clutches fitted .

i think sachs are the ones bmw would have backed, but LUK are a shite remake

Ive heard bad things about LUK clutches too Mick.
Sachs are OEM.
