Dave i need to polish it again after i go over the whole car with some pre paint panle wipe to get the waxoyl off.
So what do i use as a polish before the wax goes on?
I'm new to this but i'm guessing i'm buried now and need to be a "detailing" buftie and need to buy some pukka gear like a homo wash mitt micro fibre styleeeeee
Have you got Paul's (ShineOn) number?

car is loking incredible - a tad jealous!
i know very little about paintwork- detailing though i am a bit anal about keeping mine regarding the polishing , feeding the paint . waxing etc BUT don't quote me on this i think you can't polish it for a while after its been painted - maybe thats a bit of myth but ask someone who knows before you crack out the 12,000 rpm rotary polisher!!
fair play on the car again.

It was allready pollished 2 or 3 weeks after it had been painted but i had to use panrel wipe to get the waxoil off the exterior panels after i got a bit carried away with the wax gun!
It is perfectly safe to start pollishing it now and after you have removed the last of the waxoil on the exterior i would be applying some pollish and wax.
Over to the bufties on what products to use!

Liam the car was machine polished before it came home, but the panel wipe will take it off. There is waxoyl everywhere! and off cuts of polish everywhere too.
No buckets yet Gareth do i need to wash it before i polish/wax then? i was going to go over the whole car before i really refit any thing of size to it

My zaino shampoo smells like the 10p ice lollies I bought as a kid!d6dph wrote:Simon, Bring a pen and paper to the next Ace, We can geek up on things
Have you sniffed the wax yet. They always smell so good.
The wax is good enough to eat, smells like marzipan. Sometimes I find myself sniffing lids in shops to pick the nicest smelling product. Really attracted to zaino and poor boys on the smell front, they also work well too which is nice!
I have issues!
And yes Simon wash before you polish or wax else your just waxing and polishing on top of crap (even if you can't see the crap its there!), Also get used to the fact the polish in the detailing world can refer to abbrasive products and protectants depending upon the company who manufacture the product in question, it would be disasterous to mix the two up at the wrong time!
Dave won't steer you wrong, and invest in two buckets, a good wash mit, a drying towel of some kind, and at least 4 cotton plush rags to use to apply and buff.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Gareth
Si, I'm not convinced you will want to be polishing it much, Does it really need it? Maybe a really light hand polish that has a mild cut will suffice.
I'd have thought a very mild polish would just burnish the surface and enhance the gloss would be more suited to your needs. Then it's just down to adopting the correct wash technique to minimise the amount of swirls you inflict.
I personally think you will never 100% prevent swirls even with the most delicate maintenance, but you can reduce the amount by taking a little extra care.
My recommendations would be:
Two good size buckets (I think mine are 15l each)
1 x lambs wool wash mitt
2 x cheapo microfibre (m/f) mitts
1 x poorboys waffle drying towel
1 x meguars shampoo plus
1 x meguiars last touch quick detailer
And that should give you a good starting point on the wash side of things.
(Just remember, it only gets more geeky from here
