So Blue or Black.

I think Andyboy may be right tho as I cannot remember the last time I saw a C2 in the Blue.
Looks rad in Black but it's all you ever see.

And get the Gold Alpina decals on the side over the blue and will it be extra sick.

Please don't go messing his head up again with ideas of Blues or whether the stripes should be gold or silver.

Diamond with silver stripes is where its at Si. You know the score.

Been done to death.

Blue with Gold. Super rare, super cool.

Having said that, if the original colour was Black stay with that.

Simon is fed up with me banging on about this, but...........

A Diamond black C2 will just blend in with the rest of the E30's at shows no matter how nice it is. It's a standard BMW colour and pretty dull really. It's a decent, inoffensive colour but it doesn't have the WOW!! factor.

Alpina blue though.........well here's a question. B10 BiTurbo in Alpina Blue or Diamond black? No contest!

Will it affect the resale value of the car? Yes, it will be worth rather more in Blue. It's a known genuine matching numbers car whose restoration is well documented. A high quality colour change (engine bay, boot, entire interior, under arches etc) will be totally undetectable. I wouldn't do it to a red car as there will always be a bit of red showing somewhere but black is neutral.

AFAIK, there isn't an Alpina blue RHD C2 2.7 in the UK. With the gold pinstripes it would just look staggering. In Diamond black it would look 'nice'.

But it's not my car! :D

Bit harsh :(

You have a point that 'pina blue would look stunning, But I can't help think it would be a waste of a nice original car. :?

Hardly - it wasn't a particularly nice car when he bought it - original but pretty tired - hence the restoration. It's not as if I've suggested doing it in Dakar yellow is it? Look at what the Yanks are doing to nice original Fastback Mustangs, turning them into 'Eleanor' replicas for meatheat footballers to cruise around in. Painting an Alpina in a stunning period Alpina colour is an enhancement.

Anyone remember that Gazelle beige B reg C1 2.3? Now THAT desperately needed a colour change. 8O

The '**** off' comment wasn't serious btw! :D I'll buy you a Mr Men Milk Shake at da Ace when I'm next down! winkeye

The shwarz with silver stripes will be much more subtle though. I fear in that blue with gold stripes it will look too flashy. A bit "posey" look at me kind of thing.
Black is always striking and I think is a colour that will always look good.

If you remember the eighties, nothing was subtle. Had Alpina blue been on the list, plenty of City boys would have gone for it. Gloss black with gold pinstripes would be okay but Diamond black reminds me of battered old 320i Tourings. :D

Flash would be Brilliant red with gold stripes - that'd be my choice. I saw an Alpina blue 1981 B7S (E12) last week and that was something else. But the Henna red/silver stripe car next to it was far more attention grabbing. The blue is very subtle in the flesh but a really beautiful colour.

Fair point, I'm just a bit of a sucker for keeping cars the original colour & fairly standard if they are a little special.

WLN sold 3 years ago an alpina 2.7 cab which was originally white which had an avus blue paint job in the 90's by a bmw main dealer bodyshop in reading . I remember this as it sold pretty quick too

I was just looking at this pic of my wagon parked in the road outside my house and i can see the blue and gold stripes.....

looks the business there imo, but would it be better in blue!

Someone sort a blue/black poll out, i cant do it,
But that Alpina blue car Andy put up in the chromie post does look very enticing.

At the end of the day, you're doing the car for you, not us. Don't be shy about blue harming the resale - if that's you're only concern, don't worry because it won't. I bet you Alpina blue would add at least a grand to the value. I would code the bumpers blue as well.

At the end of the day, you want a show stopping E30 to show for all the £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£ and hard work. I just don't think Diamond black would do it justice.
