its nice to see people realising that you get what you pay for especially with paint although i know you already knew this simon, ive always said that bad paint can make even the best car/ repair look shoddy so its important to get this right.

its good to see barrys shop are willing to take this on as a lot of big shops i have worked for would not entertain it for one reason or another.

i always get a little bit jealous when i see people going full tilt with the new bits and full suspension refurbs cause thats what i really wanted to do to mine but then i wouldnt be enjoying driving it now if i had. the suspension is on the to do list so i will get round to it sooner or later :D

keep up the good work :thumb:

No Barrys lot are having drama's with a panel beater quitting so i'm having to wait...........

I might* be starting to lose faith a bit now, i've done/doing everything i can

Roy i will in due course be getting all those bits done on the engine. I doubt billing but you never know!

Brand new bonnet turned up last week, which was nice

I've cleaned most of the tape off the tank now and gave the top a little autosol to see how it came up, quite nicely, but could be better. I've given my fuel filler neck to my uncle and he is cutting and welding the extra 2 pipes into my other filler neck. So i'll have to get it powder coated again! but thats ok as i've got some brake calipers and some other bits to get done also

Just going through the bumpers. Cleaned up the fibreglass bits and some new nuts and clips etc.

So plodding along as per really. The list of new panels has grown again! Only doors and bootlid left really, but the ones i have are spot on

Dont loose faith Simon! Why? Is it because of the amount of tim its taking?

Looks like its coming along very nicely 8) So its fully ready for the paintshop now then? :D

I reckon you could get that fuel tank alot better than that

I'm not totally losing it, it's just being a very long wait. And i'm not having alot of luck with this bodyshop luck! It's not Barry's fault he only work there. I can't do anything else other than keep going! I'm just itching now to start putting it back together!

Paul, all panels, shut lines, engine bay are being painted, inside the doors everywhere bar the cabin area really

All will come good i'm sure. People keep asking and it's getting embarassing now :o:

F*ck being embarassed. Just watch the looks when you rock into a meeting looking like the Don of all e30's. it'll be well worth the wait Si. Sometimes a step back and a month off from a project actually helps. When i did the Triumph I took 4 years out, I think I saw the car 3 times in that spell. I just got fed up with it. Then I went to a couple of shows and the wife said....."These are dogshit compared to yours" (shes a nice girl!), so we dragged it out and finished it. Won best in show first time out!!!! 'kin smug or what?

If its any consolation Si, most of the bodyshops around my way are proper busy. I spent an hour chatting to 'MG cannons' who apparently won bodyshop of the year, they specialise in mercedes. She said they are looking at mid march onwards now(can't remember if that was driveable or non driveable. I am presuming drivable).

The problem you are probably coming accross is that you are not a big insurance company who send 'X' company loads of business and you fall down the pecking order somewhat :( NU, RBS and the like all want a bodyshop to fix the non driveables as quick as possible to keep rental costs amoungst others from spiralling. Especially where their customer is at fault.

Stick with it, the weather is getting better, so less people crashing....hopefully :)

Dude you looked like you had everything collected when I was up a couple weeks ago! I know you seemed pretty pissed with it then, but if I had a shell that nice I'd be soooo happy.

Like everyone has said take some time off, buy your daily like you want, btw good choice! and don't put so much pressure on getting it done, you know it will be one day thats all that counts.

But not so long that the dvla want to revoke your lisence for old age. :D

And most importantly if you do decide to cash in the cars chips you know my number! winkeye

Keep at it Si - it will be spot on once its done. Simple equation:

(Non Rusty E30 / menacing looks) + (Alpina pedigree x (2.7 M20 + other choice upgrades)) = keeper.

Do NOT give up on this.

This is one car that deserves the full attention it's getting and I think the whole Zone is waiting to see how this car turns out.

I imagine it will be truly stunning and I'd be happy to do a proper photo-shoot somewhere cool when it's done - I have a fair few pro snapper mates.

Hang in there, you know when you get it finished and go out for the first time (should be Summer then) all the pain will vanish.

Simon, I have a selection of stickers here for you.

I have had about 5 shades of green ones printed so we should have a pretty close match and there are 4 of the colour code ones.

Sorry I couldn't make Ace but my car wasn't in the mood, I think it was rag week as there was red stuff all over the workshop floor :chuckle:

Any news?! no f**king news as nothing has happened. It's on the back burner i can't do anymore i've got the money in the bank a car totally ready to go into a bodyshop and no one wants to do it, so what am i to do?! bollocks to it now. If they can't be bothered then why should i.

I've got a ring trip in may 10th and my touring has been getting some serious spanner time getting her back into shape ready for another 20 lap slog around the worlds finest race track. as all i've done is change the oil and drive it since the last trip!

Once May/june is over as i've got 2 stag do's and 3 weddings to go to i shall probably start the bodyshop search again as i'll still be waiting.............and see if i can get f**ked up the arse by the 3rd place or hit lucky?

Dave much appreciated be good to have a look at them when we finally meet again!
