little update, again

picked up these bits today nice and refurbed

Image

petrol filler neck, 2 front struts and engine subframe all powder coated, spot on they are. If anyone needs this sort of thing doing let me know, he's also going to tart up my Racing dynamics 6 branch and make it all shiney again. He'll do brake calipers aswell or pretty much anything. So if i get a load of stuff together the price comes down. He did this lot for £150 including VAT. Any colour but it's £200 straight away if you want colour matching

This guy is also going to fit new clutch packs to my LSD for the car in the near future, and check out my sport gearbox. So i'll let you all know on how this all goes.

Image

New parts for the fuel system, i'm working my way through this at the moment and mincing about with the fuel tank

Image
Image
I bought another tank! but having looked at mine although it has a couple of dents i've decided to use the one from the car as it's in pretty good nick. Just really light surface rust which has gone with a minor rub with a wire wheel. A bit of zinc plating in a can and i'm away! or so i hope

Whats the best underseal to re coat my fuel tank with please? i've scrapped all the old factory stuff off and what to give it a fresh coat with some pukka stuff?!

been busy with lots of little bits still haveing fun with the bodyshops so maybe when i'm 40 it will of gone to be painted........

I've got all the stickers off the shell including the all important alpina tyre pressure sticker inctact! Result on that front.

anyway filler neck backet on so they can weld the brack in the right place when it's welded there and the filler neck can be bolted on in the right place

Image

I had a nice sweaty moment on saturday gone, well 6 times as i had to drill my 2 new front wings for the alpina side skirts. Unfortunately they don't fit like M-tech items. So 've refitted them properly or the best i can so they at least fit nicely unlike before from Sytners first attempt! which was a bit wonky to say the least.

Image
8mm body nut bolts fit on this rail much better than the sh!te old self tappers that sytners used!

Image

The two on the arch lip where the best, not. Some zinc plating spray on afterwards. I'll fit these back on and waxyol before just to be sure and it's more i can do!

Image
It's on here and looking almost factory fit, as good as these skirts ever look fitted

Fuel tank has had some love and the whole system. 2 new metal pipes to go on, all rubber pipes replaced and a good clean on the breather bottle

Image
2 coats of bmw stonechip paint

Image
Image
undersealed and back together so ready to go back on now.

I pulled the LSD out tonight, thanks for the help tomtom!
Image

This is so i can get the diff looking spunky whilst it's getting the bodywork done. So i've putting my open 3.91 diff in to keep it a rolling shell.

Now i've always thought and said that this chariot had the 3.73 ratio fitted to it. So i cleaned the tag up........

Image

WHAT A DICK I AM! :x gives me more to think about now final drive wise and which ratio to go for! kind of chuffed it pulled well with this fitted with and a dicky engine!

H&R roll bars ordered off Salad cream on the zone shop too! more money!

Hi Simon.

Did you get your brake calipers coated and if so how did thet come out. I'm just in the process of doing mine and wondered if I'd have a crack at them myself or go the professional route. Also did you say you were having the manifold painted ? I want to tart mine up but am worried it will look a dog if it starts peeling.

Regards.
P.S Don't add all them bills and receipts up untill the very end.

Thanks Mahmood!

I've built my front struts up tonight so here we go!

Image
Image

Image
ahhhh the weapons of choice, 45mm inverted bilsteins ala tech 1 sport styleeee. I asked earlier in the week about getting the shocks on the car rebuilt. I thought f**k it, the combo above is tried and tested on the road, drift days and round the Nurburgring by me and ticks all my boxes so i'll stick with what i know i'll like. These shocks and springs are used but still A1. Shocks have only covered 40k or so by myself since i bought them new, springs have done less milege around 20k

spring clamps on

So as new front struts to go to add to the list of refurbished components!
