I'm after that alarm, asked about it new but it's NLA. When you get bored of wiring it in I'll have it.

change what batt? in the fobs?
It seems fairly straight forward to fit, it powers from a spare plug on the electric sunroof loom which in turn plugs into the accessort board, taps into the hazard circut with fuses, the OBC loom, one of plugs to the passenger door loom and a mystery red wire which ran the length of the car into the boot?? Theres a brown earth i think which runs to the boot light switch. Also a switch for when the bonnet is open. It all worked but i guess thats because it wasn't bodged in anywhere.
Thought it would be a good OE touch, the insurance probably won't think so but i think it will be CAT 2 system? Its not as good as the serpi star fitted to the pina touring as that immobilises the ignition 30 seconds after the car is unlocked if you don't star the engine

I actually only want the original remote central locking - Alarms are more hassle than they're worth, have you running out into the street at 3am because some chav on a 'ped rode past too close.

would be surprised if the insurance would recognise it Si without an installation certificate? Nice touch though. You could always have something else installed as well to please the insurers that you can't tell is there. We sometimes install imobilisers at work with the dongle embedded into a carbon keyfob, you wouldn't even know what it was. (as some owners do and wonder why the car will only start with one set of keys

i've got that alarm on mine, and it's still going strong
not bad as old alarm are usually trouble.
it immobilises my car, though i do not have an OBC at all.
it also operates a BMW total closure module, annoyingly this is only connected to the front windows despite my touring having electric windows all round and an electric sunroof.
new fob cases are still available and i've just got a new one for £3.92 from cotswold. part number 82.92.9.402.510

The Alarm can wait instead of scratching my head i changed minds again and cracked on with what i can do best, and thats being a spanner

If you can't beat everyone then join them so up came the back end!

Rear top mount failure BOTH sides! thats how crap standard rear top mounts are. Cars been off the road for over 3 years!

It all fell out honest
Beam took a bit of a wiggle but she came out and didn't leave the top of the bushes in the car so all is good.

Copying diddler, Trev,Winx and anyone else now. Usual surface rust in all these little annoying places. Taken me a f**kin age to clean the underseal off and scurf it all back best you can.
I painted a few areas beige after it came back from the bodyshop, but it didn't match. So i cleaned up the original good areas and painted them. I've done it in sections so i've only got this middle area where the rear axle was to sort thankfully. Horrid job. I painted all my arches diamond black also! Who cares as long as it shiney he ho!
I've got all this sh!t sitting here all minted up waiting to on, so once this is done we're cooking on gas for a while. I don't want it on axle stands for 6 months

Fun job scraping away the factory underseal
.
Have to agree with Barry (althou i dont want to) the beige will look great, nice contrast against the new/minty stuff going back on:D
Your right about being on the axle stands for the minimum amount of time, Mines going to bearymats on the 11th Jan, so needs to be a rolling shell by then, got the refurbed rear beam back so should be going on in the next week, along with the trailing arms as well but will just chuck on the old shocks and springs for now.
Everything else for underneath will be ready for when it comes back from the bodyshop.

Anyhow.......
Been up the dealer to collect some more bits, i ain't bothered picturing them as there is too much of it building up now!

Got all the bits for this, lid, strainer, couple of rubber grommets and level sensor. I thought the lids were black now? This one matched perfectly!

This long black trim along the top, what a utter sh!t those push fit plastic grommets are with little plastic dowels. Violence was needed! Although you spend more time taking all the bloody bmw stickers off bits like these rather than fitting them! I had to re adjust the boot latch again also as it wouldn't shut once i'd put it on! silly me

I found this on RealOem whilst looking for clips, loom cloth tape for the engine bay etc. 53p for the roll, love it
Part No. 61 13 6 902 588 for all the resto homos out there

Back to the underside, horrid jobs underhere, cleaning, scurfing, painting undersealing. I hate it all. Doesn't look toooooo bad. Its just quite cold at the moment!

Heres one i bent up earlier, a right fiddle generally when the beam is fitted so why make life hard?!

Behold a bolt

And a tasty beam, i've had this in the garage for a few years now. I bought it off OldSkool who did all the hard work for his original S50 touring

Locking plates on the sills in too. I didn't tighten these right up as i was unsure whether its best to once the car is back on the deck anyone? I've never refitted all this before. I'm now thinking maybe i should of put the fuel tank in first.......oh well not the first time you have a brainwave after the event!
