Small update,

The ever on going bloody doors! i wish we could blow them off lol

Image

clips on

Image

weather strip on (new)

Image

shadowline trim on, along with a wing mirror! i wanted a blind spot one which are NLA new so Nelly sent me this one which is also heated. So fitted the heated loom to the wing mirror, while i was there

Image

Nice. Trim is such a fun job on new paint, what happens when you have to fit it twice? you cry as none of it comes off without a fight. Glad its done

What i am finding is bits are going or have gone NLA which is a bit annoying when you can only buy for one side! like this rubber which runs along the top of the door. I've thrown the old ones out in my wisdom also :?

Image

Doors aren't too far away now from being done and dusted, horay! Which will mean its weather tight and we can start underneath at last

Slow progress as always, need to get my bum into gear and sell some more clutter and source parts!

I need a black carpet if anyone has one? or i'll settle for Grey if its mint and i mean mint, if its holed or worn at all forget it. Pound notes waiting off course. Some grey OE mats would be good if i have to accept a grey carpet even though everything else is black i'm sure it will look fine.

i'd buy it all if i had the money, always more money!

I'm not planning on doing this all again to another car/e30. The way with the touring was much easier!

^ I'd best stock up on them then and sell them to you when you need 'em :P Gimme a list....

Yup, you're a braver man than me, the amount of time and money you've given this car is a true testament to your passion!

Do you think you'll be able to enjoy driving it when it's finished? I'd be far too worried about it to enjoy it properly, I think.

LMFAO

Si. You want a cab for your honeymoon? £12k and it's yours pal!

Had a gander at this the other day and to say it's gonna blow you all away when it's done is an understatement.

I've said it before. This will be the new benchmark!

nice 5min job this eve which has had me in a pickle for a while

Image

these f**kin door pins for the poxy interior lights! They always play up and i couldn't understand why the interior light stayed on and the e/w and sunroof stayed powered up with the doors shut and ignition off :? I thought i'd fubared my e/w conversion! As she was sporting motorsport windys originally

eureka moment in shower did shed some light and also doing the obvious thing. Check another E30? Oh look theres a touring on the drive fook me i'll have a look. So another trip to the dealer

Image

I was missing these bloody plastic things!

Image

So while i was there 2 new door pin switches things, they were only a fiver each so it would of been rude not too. Plus they are always knackered! Anyhow thats cured it all and we are cooking on gas and everything is working as it should i can report. I need 2 new ones anyhow as i needed the double pin ones as i had retro fitted electric windows

Seems minor but my electric skills are strained by all this!

Much to my joy, most of the door parts i'm missing are on factory back order and i'm slowly starting to sh!t myself about any other trim i need to finish the outside :? Ie the rubbing strips down the side. These will be next as soon as the money appears!

I'm ordering small bits and ETK says availability is there and then when i go to collect they've cancelled it and its NLA. Highly annoying!

I'm battling you for door trim parts except I only need Drivers side lol!

Some shadowline and seals have indeed gone NLA which put the sh1t up me too. I have a freshly painted naked drivers door with ZERO clips or fasteners on - ordered everything I can but the rest will have to be made up from my two other drivers doors which are in very good condition - so I have two cracks at it lol!

Not looking forward to taking the shadowline off - those small brass clips and tabs look a nightmare as well as bending the trim etc etc - any tips?

the shadowline trim is clipped on as you can see, wing mirror off before you start. work from the b pillar to the front. A screwdriver or strong flat blade with the window wound down you can prize it up. from the inside if you get me, and lever against the door to do it.

The rubber weather strip might come off with it and bend and end up fooked. But these are still available!

All my trim is on order, some is factory back order though. So i've just got to wait.

The other trims like the Big b-pillar one is clipped and glued but these are £12 new. They are only clipped on the glass side of it (about 3 iirc). The top black trim which runs down the frame is nasty and very hard to get off without bending it! Its glued top and bottom and clipped from the factory :? I start at the bottom at the front and bend the trim up with your hands once 1 or 2 have un clipped its not too bad. Plus if you have a good eye you can bend it back to shape. Word of note these bits are NLA now to add the pressure. I had to repaint mine both sides

Yeah, I ordered the external B-Pillar trim, rubbing strip and tons of clips and tab and nuts.

Took the old trim off my replacement door prior to paint, pics on my resto to see it in detail. I wasn't re-using them so I destroyed them. They are going to be a C*NT to remove in tact. I also replaced my door look escutcheon and door handle with new - the tactile parts make all the difference. I'm back on mine this week.

collected 2 of the wetherstrips for the doors today my from my dealer. They were on factory back order! So well chuffed they appeared as sometimes the part ends up NLA instead. So i can now get the doors built up complete now with wing mirrors and door cards on so they are complete and finished! First bit of the car think that will be done lol All in the right direction as they

Also ordered some more outside trim parts To keep up the outside as new look we're going for! As there was only 1 showing left in stock in germany! few i thought good timing

Don't dispair i'm aquiring parts still people!

The strips along the doors, wings, rear quarters? i've nicked the last rear quarter one for one side! Theres stock left of the other ones. Some are in Bracknell even!

And the last of the bit that holds the brake duct to the splash guard/arch liner. they're only 4 quid and they have loads of the other side!

you might get a factory back order special. I don't think us folk on here are the only ones restoring E30's and trying to buy Trim parts

Trim parts in general are getting thin in stock alot of parts i've ordered in the last 6 months have had single figure numbers in stock in Bracknell or Germany

We need to break into the bracknell warehouse and raid the E30 shelves! I'd love to be let loose in there for a couple of hours...................

Bump up bad boys. Never forgotten and forever on going!

This is mainly a big thankyou to Trebor B7 "Sharp" I'm undertaking an epic garage re shuffle to change it from a storage pit of e30 sh!te to a part storage one. So i present some new racking

Image

Trev sorted this out for me and gave the idea...... to get the ship and my sh!t inshape! Now this is half done but by racking out this half and storing all the gear on this. I'll have enough space to walk all around the 2dr. ~Most importantly though i'll be able to work on it in the garage through the winter providing i sort out some more lighting!

Image

Its all stacked up here though! :o: but i'm well excited at sorting out this mess!

Any how as always i've been collecting more new parts and trinkets for the build

Image

Which one mofos?! 6litre or 9! love it 1 for each alpina. The 9 is way more mint so thats going in the 2dr and the 6litre can slum it in the touring

Image

Fuel filler neck rubber thing i ordered 1 and bracknell sent 2! hehe the metal bracket for the breather pipes in the arch too, it was 27 sodding pound! Also got the pukka fuel tank, new lines front to rear brake line and all that gumf together.

Image

Aquired this in a deal with Kos with a 4 spoke version going his way. A Trip to Demlotcrew for a minor refurb. Shes come up a treat so thanks to these guys

Image

A/C kit also! All options for the chariot are now here in the 13's grubby mits

So in a week or so i shall start the rear axle/ rear end refurb as i've also got some cash in the piggy bank. I'm hoping for a tax rebate to help this along and my whole crimbo list is part numbers of trim. So with a steady plod i'm hoping to be on track for while until i run out of money again - common theme here

£27 for the pressed steel cover?

Image

Thats a f*cking disgrace, I bought one of these a few years ago for the white 4 door and it was £10.50 odd, the rubbers were £5, I even left it on when it went to the crusher!

It don't look like thats going anywhere fast!!! All a bit "over engineered" for a garage what?

Done well getting it built. I'll try to get to Aldershot 1 more length ASAP and a few brackets.

Been thinking some more. Move the fridge to under the light switch and extend the bench using the shit down the other side?? Nothing like a long bench. Should have put a vice on the xmas list as well winkeye

Nice bit of racking that Simon :D :D, i would advise one of those little infrared heaters as well, it was bloo*y cold out in my garage tonight.

Pictures taken a few weeks ago, looks even more like a bombs gone of it now....

Well my garage is 12 foot wide! and e30 is about 1600mm if that wide. So i'll have at least 2 foot around the car doesn't sound much, but thats loads of room to walk around get a jack under it etc and work plus its pretty long also for a single garage where its parked when its clear i can walk around the front and rear.

Yeah that steel cover is a joke Dan i bought one a year or so back for £10 but its ended up on my pina touring instead last winter when it had its own mechanical overhaul. F**k me it got it sideways tonight!

Amazing how much space a car takes up when its stripped down and your storing carpets, interiors rear beams and arms, wheels, spoilers, stripped engines, trim and fuel tanks. I'd love a double garage! I'd love to have the room to keep the pina touring next to it as really it deserves its own garage space when not in use. But we use it all year round but thats what they're for

Cracking stuff Si. I bought one of those fuel filler plates back in the summer and it was twenty odd quid then.

That A/C compressor looks like a seiko seki one, same as that one i got off ebay. Is you A/C set up that one from pacer?
