Engines that fit the M40B16 gearbox

Hello! I have a BMW E30 316i facelift from 1988 and I am not very satisfied about its power and torque... I want to swap the engine to a 6 cylinder. Can someone please tell me what 6 cyilnder engine will fit right on the bell and the drive-shaft of my M40b16 gearbox? and what mods are necessary at the clutch, flywheel and the starter. Please help me! Thank you.
