I started working in a very "old school" engineering shop on the outskirts of Halifax after nearly six months off work due to body parts wearing out.
Now,,,,, I took this job nowing four things, the travel, sooooooooo bloody old machines, very ( x10) cold and soooooooooo dirty.
Next week I start a new job 15 mins away in Leeds and it could not be more "chalk and cheese" .
Shift work , 6-2 2 10 which I love and a beautiful mind set of the guys who run the place.
The Halifax guy`s , all ten of them were the best guys you could meet and I will miss them. ( Proper people, Yorkshire that is.lol.)

Sooooo, what does it take to admit you have got things wrong ???

No relationship stuff either.lol.

Or have you never got things wrong ?? winkeye winkeye

the main thing i got wrong/regret work wise was giving up a good job in a warehouse (left to my own devices, my own boss) that was a 80 mile round trip to go work in a factory 10 mins down the road from where i lived,

the job in the warehouse was a good craic, got on fantastic with the folk i worked with, really good pay but the travelling was taking it's toll on me.

went to the new place & ended up screwing my lungs up because of the fumes/dust in there.
ended up with COPD & idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (heavily scared lungs) because of it & now struggel with everyday activities.

but you live & learn.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.
getting oral sex off an ugly person is like rock climbing.....don't look down ;)

Working very hard for large multi national companies in a business I didn’t care about for 20 years, before the epiphany of putting my wellbeing and happiness first. Now work for myself, I’m 45 today and semi retired - working for a year then taking a year off.

I advise every young person I meet to do something they enjoy as a lifetime of work you don’t enjoy will take its toll.

My philosophy entirely ! Worked for SSE running a telecomms team, stress, long hours, great pay but gave it all up for (as you say) wellbeing and happiness. My hat off to you Colin !

Totally.

One critical thing money cannot buy you, is time. You learn the hard way in life that it's the only thing worth having.

Peace.
