as I sold the Lotus, I want to have some fun in driving through Europe as I have a wedding to go to in Poznan in July and I have some free time as I am in between jobs at the moment.
I thought it might be an idea to drive to Poland so I'd prep the E30, mechanically all is fine but I will be getting the injectors cleaned and will be removing them this week, tyres have been on the car since I bought it 6 years ago so I think its about time time they where replaced, service etc etc any other advice as I will carry a tyre plug kit, compressor worth carrying any spares and who to use for recovery for a just in case scenario?
Route will be London, Dover, Calais then to see a mate in Amterdam then of to see the youngest in Hamburg, then to see a friend in Koszalin on to Gdansk for a few days then down to Poznan, not sure about the return trip yet.
Might bring a hardtop back as well.........
Anyone fancy a lift?
Was thinking of taking the E30 abroad........

I've just got back from the Harz Mountain Region, I took the M5 with no winter tyres on and I got stuck
The residents of Goslar wasn't happy and I would of been more welcomed flying over the place in the 1940's.
One thing that I've never done is the green stcicker for Emissions Test and I've done Europe 7 times in the E30 M3 and M5, it's a fine apparently if you get caught without it in certain areas of Germany.
Take spare bulbs, log book, proof of insurance, HV vests, fan belts and a fuel pump. I did a tour in the M3 last year and loaded the car up with all sorts, never needed any of it. The M5 is still under BMW warranty so I have European cover and all I carry is spare bulbs, HV vests and the relevant paperwork for the car.

Cheers Kieran, yep I know about carrying your papers as that is standard in Poland and thanks for reminding me about the HV and bulbs.
Not sure if I need a green sticker though as I know in certain cities you need an exemption as my son needed classic car certification to get around it for his E30 in Frankfurt.

I did the same when I took my family to France in the Transit, had all of it. And we did indeed get pulled over (a rusty Transit on British plates was an easy target!)kieran325 wrote: never needed any of it. .
We even had to have a HiViz for my, at the time, 9 week old son! Checked everyone against their passport photos including the above mentioned 9 week old

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...

Lol, but then again they need to be used, I only covered 800 mies in mine last year on short journeys, my sons 86 got from London to Frankfurt with no issues.kieran325 wrote:'Fail to prepare, prepare to fail' was my motto when I took the M3 over, it was a great experience rattling around it.
I must admit I was checking all the gauges and listening out for unwanted rattles every couple of mile
I think the biggest issue/problem is the E30 getting stolen if its left outside.

You won't have to worry about that unless a mincing hair dresser is really desperate...and can't find a taxi.Satan wrote: I think the biggest issue/problem is the E30 getting stolen if its left outside.
