Oi Vey, Pony is that you?
I'm not the one calling for the Syrians to man up and fight off the bullies.

TBF, my comment was more aimed at the migrants coming here for freebies - I've got no issue with helping/supporting genuine refugees but I'd say they will get more from the UK than if they were in another country.

Thing is, alot in europeans didn't like communism and stalin even less. The Germans formed a whole SS "Viking" division from volunteers from all over europe, holland, france, belgium, denmark, norwayCloggy Saint wrote:Yeah, for about 48 hours, and when they realised the writing was on the wall they started signing up for the German army
The thought of having a go at Stalin appealed but we know it didn't quite work out that way and the ones who survived we not welcomed by some in their own countries

This is why in Cyprus we have a small arsenal just in case it's 1974 all over againwillnz wrote:What Dan is saying is to get your own AK and fight back. Would you not protect your own home from insurgents? Or would you take flight and leave your family to fend for themselves like so many of this lot have?
You would be leading a very different life in Amsterdam if the allied forces had not stood up to the invading forces and chucked them out!

No need, it looks like Russia is going in heavy handed!Cloggy Saint wrote:This would be the ideal but who's going to arm and train these people? And your last paragraph contradicts your argument. The Dutch were incapable of defending their own country and had to rely on the allies to save their asses. Why don't the coalition forces do the same in Syria?willnz wrote:What Dan is saying is to get your own AK and fight back. I didn't avoid the question. I just belittled Will for his half assed come back. I didn't take the stance of "stand and fight". Yet somhow got accused of being an Arm Chair General despite not advocating Syrians to become 'Rambo' types from a trouble free corner of the world.
Of course I have no personal experience of conflict, Mother wouldn't have allowed it, I thought that would have been obvious?

My suggestion? Let the Arab League and regional powers deal with the fanatics on their own door step.

Willnz is probably just as curious about your experience of conflict as you were when you asked the question. At least you got a sensible answer.
I don't know you or your Mother, I would of thought that would have been obvious lol.bab-91 wrote: Of course I have no personal experience of conflict, Mother wouldn't have allowed it, I thought that would have been obvious?![]()

I can't see the Arab League doing much now, surely it's been too long?

This is emerging now about the little boy that was shown dead on a beach .
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The father of drowned Syrian toddler Aylan Kurdi was working with smugglers and driving the flimsy boat that capsized trying to reach Greece, other passengers on board said, in an account that disputes the version he gave last week.

There is already an Arab Coalition active in Yemen. No reason they can't take on IS with help from Iran and Russia.
If they can't put their differences aside, why should anyone step in and bail them out?

We talk about ISIS/ISIL IS or whatever they want to call this group but just cast your minds back slightly. Remember the so called 'Rebels' or the 'Free Syria Army' that we were meeting in Geneva and funding and arming to overthrow Asad.....where have they gone. I will tell you......they are ISIS !!!!
We simply armed the wrong people in an attempt to overthrow yet another government that has NOTHING to do with us but guess what....we got it wrong....AGAIN !!!!
So, the refugees are running from an environment we helped create and therefore we have a morale duty to accept refugees.
These are the results of our own actions people.
I don't expect everyone to understand what i have said or even believe it but i am afraid this is fact.

I always said that arming the Rebels was a bad idea and I always believed that it was IS behind it.bourne wrote:We talk about ISIS/ISIL IS or whatever they want to call this group but just cast your minds back slightly. Trouble is, look what happened the last time Russia tried to invade Afghanistan. But Putin and Assad putting an end to ISIS? A fine idea. The 'British Muslims' involved can all spend the next 40 years in a Siberian Gulag.Kos wrote:I always said that arming the Rebels was a bad idea and I always believed that it was IS behind it.bourne wrote:We talk about ISIS/ISIL IS or whatever they want to call this group but just cast your minds back slightly. But what's Putin's angle? Another addition to the rebuilding of the USSR?

Syria is a long standing ally of Russia. Assad's father was trained to fly Migs in the Soviet Union, lucky sod.Andyboy wrote:Trouble is, look what happened the last time Russia tried to invade Afghanistan.
