Being part of the EU is a bigger problem than welcoming refugees. Although it seems to me that the Syrian refugees media image is manufactured propaganda to make people hate Assad and Russia/China and the rest of the ''axis of evil'' as well as any kind of Arab or non white person in fact, to prepare the people to willingly let a bunch of bullshitters a la Blair involve the UK and other investor countries with a 24hr news channel in military money pit action of massive proportion to secure BP or Shell a bit of oil to extract, some obscure strategic nonsense or simply hurt in any way the rival empire.

What Dan is saying is to get your own AK and fight back. This lot were sitting in their own quiet suburban homes until IS decided to make life uncomfortable for all. Bullies will always try it on till somebody hits back with equal force...

Would you not protect your own home from insurgents? Or would you take flight and leave your family to fend for themselves like so many of this lot have?

You would be leading a very different life in Amsterdam if the allied forces had not stood up to the invading forces and chucked them out!

The difference between your example (WW2 and Holland) is Holland was a State with an ideal of citizenship, a corrective identity if you will , Syria (like most of the middle east) while defined by borders is a cauldron of sectarian and tribal tensions. For many people there is no corrective identity, force, army etc to rally to! The ordinary people are wedged between two enemy/hostile forces (IS, Assad), not one, like your example. Who would you fight for? Just curious, Assad or IS? It would be like picking an STD!

Ps. If I was to get really uppity, I would point out how ineffective the resistance movements were during WW2 but hey! Feckin Brown people with no stomach for a good ole brawl!

Armed intervention always works well in that part of the world doesn't it It might benefit some people on here to read a newspaper every now and again, to get more of a handle of what is actually happening in the world beyond the zone

I was set to follow family into the armed forces, but a serious accident when I was 17 left me with some long term medical issues that put pay to that
