These people are fleeing for their lives, not to try and enter Europe just to do a bit of cash in hand work and milk the system. Yes, Britain is a small island with limited space but if anything can be done to prevent fellow human beings, regardless of colour or religion, from being ruthlessly exterminated then it should be done, if only on a temporary basis. While things like housing, the NHS, education is a worry. It's not as if 5,000, 10,000 or even 15,000 families are going to be dumped in one area. Even 15,000 families spread across England, Scotland, Wales and NI? It's a drop in the ocean for all of the above.

I'd imagine country of origin plays a large part. Proof of persecution or torture etc etc.

Of course London has always had congestion and housing issues, but not to the extent of now.. and to say that refugees/migration* has nothing to do with that is a cop out. Some of us have physically lived through the change and not just read a book.

And No one has thought to mention the strain on the already troubled NHS and where the places in the schools will come from when the AVERAGE class size in state schools is already approaching 30!!!!

The UK has already contributed more to migration than most of the rest of the world. Let others cope with the issue! Because in my mind, the UK no longer can cope.

We can all argue that the UK is full of lazy fat benefit cheats that don't want to work and we should let migrants / refugees in that will work. I believe it will have the opposite effect and give the benefit cheats further excuses like "there is no jobs".

It would only work if it were possible to get rid of the benefits brigade, a population replacement if you will.
The economy would benefit from a boost of hard workers, the poor blokes that valeted my wife's Audi after I'd finished using it as a works vehicle worked solidly for 16 hours between them cleaning and still kept to there original price, despite grossly underestimating the work involved. Try getting a pair 20 year old English boys to do the same job for the same no money, no chance, much moaning and complaining would have been involved!

Like I say, it'll never happen, mass extermination tends to be frowned upon these days.

A nice idea, but why the fuck did we not support both Assad and Gaddafi to actually prevent what is happening now? At what point will Isis stop? At what point do we say 'sorry, no more'? Do we stop when 50% or more of Syria is living in the UK? Who is paying for it?

Only an anecdotal but one of my other half's colleagues has a daughter who has a migrant in their class at school (out in the Essex/ East London borders). Four months ago, said infant couldn't speak a word of English, now they're fluent and top of the class in grades. There's something to be said for the hunger to succeed/ improve your lot driving you forward.

In contrast a lot of the white middle class kids I know are going backwards soci-economically because they have had it easy so far.. they think the world revolves around them and that the world owes them a living. That is turning out not to be the case..
