Firstly a big hello to members of this forum. I have been a member for a few days now and I have been reading with interest.

I am planning on purchasing a BMW Cab from a close friend and I have been trying to get a rough idea on how close to the value the sum of money is he is asking.

The car is a standard unmolested 1992 J 318 e30 Auto in dog c**k red. A photograph is here *clicky*

I know the car has a full main dealer service history. It has a huge wedge of reciepts and Mot's since time began. The cam belt was changed at 50k in 2005 and the car has now covered 78k. It has had 5 owners from new, with the last 2 owners garaging the car. The hood is no longer electrically operated and had to be manually stowed away. The roof is 2 years old.

There is no rust or corrosion anywhere I could think to look.

Please can i have your opinions and suggestions on where to look for rot, and questions to ask my good friend before I purchase. I know my friend would never knowingly sell me a lemon, but I would like peace of mind.

He has advised me a mate rate price, not sure this is the correct forum area so will withhold stating it yet. Also not sure on forums rules on posted prices outside forsale forum! However looking on autotrader, it apears good value.

Any help appreciated.
thanks

lovely car i would pay 3000 for a car like that but that's me and i'm not in the uk so wouldn't be able to give you a uk price. the 318i cab is the latest addition to the cabbies before it went out of production in 1993.well worth having, good luck.
because we never grow up
and
not a lot of people know that
