for HID lights to be legal you need:
projector lenses
auto-levelling height adjustment
light washers
but apparently people go through MOTs without having washers or the auto levellers all the time (I think that E30s have a light wash anyway don't they?)

as said above is needed to be legal, i am running hid's on my e30 and they passed a mot no problem
as for sidelight bulbs any that have any blue in them are illegal, but if your looking for pure white instead of the yellow of standard sidelights i highly recommend these

I had those in mine but with the HID's they still look yellow. The LED ones are the only real way to get round it.essexboy wrote:as said above is needed to be legal, i am running hid's on my e30 and they passed a mot no problem

We are lucky with (most) E30's being fitted with projector style lights, HID's look perfectly fine fitted, and have a perfect cutoff point and no dazzling of oncoming traffic.
Fitting HID's to cars with normal reflector headlamps won't be so easy come MOT time, or if you are pulled over etc..

my eyes must be really bad then because they look pure white to meSteviec wrote:I had those in mine but with the HID's they still look yellow.
