Touringdaddy - I'm pretty pleased to hear that the stuff works as I was thinking about it the other day. I used to read Revs magazine for my sins a year or so ago and they were pretty upbeat about it.
Might get myself a tin and see what it'll do.

320Touring - 10K boost is a can of spray that you spray into your induction system whilst the engine is running. It's supposed to clear out all the crap from your system, give you better mpg and more power. Sounds like it works from what Touringdaddy has been saying!

I gather you can achieve the same thing by feeding your engine a load of brake fluid!
I also gather that you're better off using redex (think that's the stuff) or even just running on optimax petrol to gently clean the built up carbon out of the engine rather than ripping the whole lot out in one go and blasting it out of the exhaust.

TurboBrown - does it take a few tankfulls of Optimax before there is any noticeable difference. I try it every now and again and can't honetly say I can notice any difference. If anything, last time i used Optimax I kept getting a whiff of fuel when just starting off and when pulling up. Mind you, I guess this has nothing to do with the type of fuel does it? could a higher octane give off more fumes through the breather etc. I checked my system from tank to fuel rail and could not find any evidence of leaks

..who cleaned his injectors.

I imagine this stuff is doing the same thing, though how it woudl do it so quickly is beyond me - I had to run 3 tankfuls with the additive through mine to get the injectors worknig cleanly (at least I assume they are...)
It is *SO* easy to fool yourself that these thigns make a difference - only a rolling road or accurate petrol vs miles measurement will tell you the truth about power or consumption.
It's generally accepted that less than a 10% increase in power is impossible to detect "by the seat of your pants", which would be 17bhp for a 325 - can;t believe it gives you that!

Seem to recall reading a test that Practical Classics mag (pretty sure it was them) did a couple of years ago. They opened up an engine and took some piccies of the carbon etc. in there, then put it back together and ran it for a while on Optimax. When they took the head off again, it was all nice and clean in there so I guess it does take a good few tanks of the stuff.E30BeemerLad wrote:TurboBrown - does it take a few tankfulls of Optimax before there is any noticeable difference. I haven't used that trick in years. I don't know if the synthetic stuff works as well as mineral as I haven't tried it. It's a good way of de-glazing bores too.I gather you can achieve the same thing by feeding your engine a load of brake fluid

hi all. How did you inject the stuff? I've tried similar, but have found it awkward to inject....
