Technically there is no such thing as a sport!
Wasn't it a UK marketing ploy to sell more cars, Just because its got four doors don't mean it's not a sport!
I know what your mean though by the default definition of a "sport" is two door with plastic stuck on the sides, but like has been said you could spec any car up to sport spec.
In Europe for example you get sports to full sport spec, roof lining gear box lsd the lot, two or four door so never say never.
And just to put the cat amongst the pigeons there's is no such model on the EPC so does it really exist!!!!
Id say if its full sport spec lsd all the trimming, it doesnt matter wether its two or four door.

explain why if i phone the dealer and give them my chassis number the dealer says 325i sport!!! it may have been a uk ploy but the UK dealer still recognizes it as a sport..dannyboy759 wrote:Technically there is no such thing as a sport!

if you go onto the epc does it give you the other models ? also to buy a replacement wing pod from a dealer for an mtech 2 kit you need to provide them with a chassis number of a car that left the factory with the kit.. ive ran into this when i was replacing one on my tech2 sport a few years ago i had to go in with my v5 before they would order the replacement part for me
Oh no please. Right get the whip.tom325sport wrote:you mean this...

It will as the chassis number is speced as a "sport" the same way when you give them the chassis number for an SE it comes up as an SE!explain why if i phone the dealer and give them my chassis number the dealer says 325i sport!!! it may have been a uk ploy but the UK dealer still recognizes it as a sport..
Yes it does there is a 325ix a a 320is etc but it doesnt mention a sport on the etk!if you go onto the epc does it give you the other models ?
In Europe Germany especially they do other limited modael of BMWs that we dont get over here, they are offical bmw cars but you wont find an E46 320i EDITION on the etk, they are just speced up E46 320´s.
Thats just to make sure you are getting the right part! nothing to do with having a sport or not!also to buy a replacement wing pod from a dealer for an mtech 2 kit you need to provide them with a chassis number of a car that left the factory with the kit
i had to go in with my v5 before they would order the replacement part for me

Once again to make sure the dealer orders you the correct part, no other reason.
There was a thing years ago that you couldnt get an M badge unless you could prove you owned the car, rubbish never such a thing.
Dont get me wrong i love sprts, lovely looking car but you could spec up and car to that spec.
Ive seen IS´s in Germany with the full mtec kit lsd black roof linning all the sprt gear just a 318is!
The best example i can give is my lhd car its full sport spec apart from the aerokit but its a four door!
Sorry but I beg to differ, That was in force at two of my local dealerships. Quite simply if you didnt have an 'M' car before your not coming in' Scenario. End of.There was a thing years ago that you couldnt get an M badge unless you could prove you owned the car, rubbish never such a thing.
Luckily I pulled a few strings and got hold of both a rear and front 'M'

BMW still won't sell you an M badge unless you give them a vin off a proper M car. Luckily for 325 sport owners ebay isn't as fussy !hubble wrote:Sorry but I beg to differ, That was in force at two of my local dealerships. ebay has many a copy badges. Our friends in the far east have a lot to answer forpacerpete wrote:BMW still won't sell you an M badge unless you give them a vin off a proper M car. Luckily for 325 sport owners ebay isn't as fussy !

Same goes with alpina parts from the dealer, vin required.
The must have friendly dealers, dealers of scrap metal lol!pacerpete wrote:So how come so many zoners have tasteful 17" 'pinas ?bss325i wrote:Same goes with alpina parts from the dealer, vin required.

when i called the dealer i gave them the part number for the wing pod and they told me i could only order this with v5 as to prove it was for a genuine car. i can understand the 325ix and the 320is coming up on the etc as the ix and the 320is has a different drive train to a normal 325i or 320i the 320is has the 2.0 version of the m3 engine and is a 4 cylinder twin cam engine where as your normal 320 has the m20 6 cylinder engine and the 325ix is 4 wheel drive also the 320is has disk brakes all round where as the standard 320 has drums on the back. does the 325se come up on the etc? or the 320se?
also the 318is had the black roof lining as standard and all cars had the option of sport interior and the 318is also had the option of the LSD and mtech kit I'm sure to say. but if the car was specked with it from new then yes the dealer will supply it was what they told me where as if it wasn't specked with it from new they wont supply it.. when i bought my last 4 cars Ive called the dealer and gave them the vin number and they can tell me every detail on the car as it left the show room down to the carpet, interior colour whether it had elec windows extra even if it had factory alarm extra

I've never seen any e30 in this country other than an M3, sport or 318is with a black headlining. I'm pretty sure it was ever availible as an option in this country.dannyboy759 wrote:Technically there is no such thing as a sport!

The sport is a proper model even if it isn't listed sepereate from other 325's on the etk.
The bottom line is there is no such thing as a four door sport and a genuine sport it worth a premium over a normal 325i even if it has identical spec.

A UK model only, the rest of the world never got it!The sport is a proper model
If the Germans done an E30 which had, say 4 wheel drive, black head lining, sports seats as standard and leather.
Alpina suspension and a tech1 kit and they called it a 325 elite or something would you regard it as a proper model or a German dealer spin off?
There's loads of cars that dealers sell around the world which us in UK never get to see and if I said I had this limited edition car the UK E30 nerds like us lol would frown on it as we had never heard of it because its something that BMW Gmbh made up because they thought it would sell and it looked nice!
The rest of the world doesn't recognise a sport just a 325 with factory fitted items off of the accessory list.
We know it as a model because it was sold here, can you see what im getting at here?
Not taking anything away from sport owners, ive had two but it's an interesting debate and although I agree with what you are all saying here that the only true sport is a two door that was sold by BMW GB as a sport identifiable by the chassis number.
I could have a European car to the same spec as a UK car but it still wouldn't be a sport and after all BMW is German, made mostly! In MÃachen of course they are aware of a sport for the UK market but it's only a normal 325 speced up by BMW GB.

Lol, so it's gone from not being a model, to a UK only model now!

Why are we having this discussion ? it is common knowledge that 4 doors are at best donor vehicles, if equipped with any tasty morsels. Otherwise, £100 (£50 for chromies) down the frag yard. What is so difficult to understand ?
now now pete there good for track cars aswellpacerpete wrote:Why are we having this discussion ? it is common knowledge that 4 doors are at best donor vehicles, if equipped with any tasty morsels. Otherwise, £100 (£50 for chromies) down the frag yard. What is so difficult to understand ?

I cant see why you find this so hard to grasp.
