Hey lads n ladies, need your input here.

I'm playing with 2 ideas here, first one is i buy a 325i touring.
If you choose this option then can i have power figure, fuel comnsumption, and difference in power or any lag between auto and manual, along with the driveabiltiy of both transmissions.

2nd option is a 318 touring, high miles, but nice body, so i can put a audi tt revod lump in, with 270 brake out the box.

Power wise i know the tt is more tunable, but the sound of the 325 is class.. so power figures for the 325 would be appreciated.

My decision will be made on the information given.

thanks

i myself would buy a 325 touring as i`m into keeping cars as original as possible.

but if you do want some serious power i know the audi tt engines can be very quick

Yep we have done the TT in a number of mk2 golfs, passat estate and corrado, and they are very quick.. in a lighter older car, eats e46 m3's, as my mate in the corrado proved on the strip.

Right just had a look into it earlier today, TT is going to be a pain in the butt, due to rear wheel drive, so cant be bothered with that idea now..

so please more info abt the auto or manual 325i

power , fuel consumption, and power.. parts easily available?

Also the 325i sport, does it have more power?

I all ready know which wheels, suspension etc are going on, just need the right car..

cheers

No

Go for the 325i touring, not "fast" fast but fast enough, and fun :)

if uve got the know how and funds.....do the tt transplant for sure..

325 is quick so is a 327 but ure never gonna really blow people away silly with an m20 normally aspirated engine.... unfortunately

turbo or cc's is the way to go

Well we had a look at the tt idea today, and with the e30 being rear wheel drive, and gearing etc, we thought it will be too much of an a55, better off buying a sleeper, mk3 polo or something and dropping the TT in that..

Ok so any difference between the auto and manual 325i tourings, any lag in the auto?

any fuel consumption figues? whats a 325 push out 170 - 180 brake?

And whats this zone chip? Hows it work? whats it do? power? price?

 cheers

So i guess there are turbos available, simple bolt on... for the e30

Any superchargers available for the e30? and shrick stuff? like the inlets they do for the vr...

Is the engine tough enough to be problem free with a turbo?

Basically this is the scenario, i bought a brabus, hoping my dad would use it, but after the first few drives, he got so much unwanted attention, he doesn't like taking it out.

I usually like knocking abt in my van, cuz i can take it anywhere, but no im not selling the brabus for anything.

So i basically want a car the old man will drive too .. and he doesn't touch manuals, the misses however wants a 4 x 4, ( soon to tie the not ), so if she brings her current 4 x 4 with her, then it will be an auto 325i.

However if she doesn't it will be an auto fatboy vitara, so then i have an option on transmission for the beema.

I'm not after huge speed, well not with our roads, be waste of time, but i would like a nice torquey quick off the mark power.. so don't know if the turbo would be a good idea.

Drove my bro's mk2 vr6 last week, lump has been rebuilt so felt so responsive, and porsche boxter s driver was gutted, but he was advised against supercharging it as our mates at stealth racing said they always get the charged ones come back with problems, and thats a hell of a strong engine too.

Any other mods that can be done.. ??

have a look at the spec of my 2.7 in the link below in my sig.... thats another option if a tad pricey---and it really is bombproof (touch wood LOL)

US guys running 290ish rwhp on standard bottom ends!-i dont think a bolt on kit is available.....go to the turbo section on the site and ask someone there/

325i Touring all the way mate and keep it m20'd

get a BBTB and a 'zone chip, so you have a rapid but restrained cruiser

Auto's in 325's are good-very smooth and the switchable auto (the one with Sport, Economy and Motorway settings) is good to use!

Monsport 42 has an auto box in his 327sport and really rates it :D sure he'll be willing to answer any questions you may have

Manuals are slightly more engauging (sp) in my opinion, and make the car very rewarding to drive.and with an LSD can be a helluva drift slag (just ask dave  8O )
