Hi I might be giving my motor it's first spanking on the 1/4 mile strip here in York on Sunday.
Does anyone know what the official 1/4 mile time is for a stock 325 manual? That way i may have something to benchmark my car by as it has had engine mods

nice one Stevo
so looking at that, if I get into the 14's then i'm doing alright!
probably will be posting a tale of woe on here tomorrow telling of terrible engine destruction!
Oh well, it would be an excuse to go the 3.5 route

I've seen a standard 440RT leave the line at York Dragway and I would say it is more 6.2 at best!

You won't get into the 14's with a stock 325i. Duncan had a stripped out race version and just dipped into the 14's and that was one light car.
A stock 325i will probably get between low 16's and mid 15's. My car got a 15.75 1/4 when it was stock.

Mine is a 325i (not sport) with chip, cam, ported & polished, k&n panel filter, scorpion system (std manifold), oh and half a bottle of octane booster! - hopefully low 15's then!
Don't think i'll bother stripping it out at all, as I just want to get a feel for it all, although at the end of the day it's no different to having a go with someone from the traffic lights, just have a feelin there will be plenty more adreneline rushing through my veins!
Any tips at all for a 325 without LSD, such as recommended revs to sit it at before duming the clutch, I had in mind 4K dialed in and side step the clutch.

Try about 4k, bring the clutch up to the biting point as the lights are on yellow and hold it on the handbrake. When they go green, bring up the clutch, you want to be right on the limit of adhesion, not wheelspinning, but just about. Adjust the clutch and accelerator as nescessary, go up to near the limiter, or if you have a chip, probably about 6.3krpm, and change gear as quick as poss.

thanks Dave, my plans have been scuppered now as the missus wants to come along. I'll end up in a row if I take our daily driver on there with the missus present.
I was going to do a few sly runs if the missus wasn't coming and just rub off the number off the side windows before I came home!
Never mind eh, will be there for 17th July though
Gonna have a wonder down there now anyway and see what's on

I think a 325 should run high 15's minimum, with a good launch and good gear changes.
My Civic isn't loads faster than a 325, and my mates old standard one ran a 15.3 at Santa Pod.
