Tax for all E30s (and all other cars pre 2001 and over 1549cc) stays at £185 for 2008/9 then goes upto £200 for Financial year 2009/10

I did too and compared to the other tax increases on vehicles it seems fair enough to me. Look at what they ould charge us if we bought an e30 next year new! It would nearly be the top tax band.

how many different ways can they find to tax us? they wont be happy until all our wages are paid into the governments accounts and they give us back just enough to buy enough bread and water to keep us alive.

its funny nowadays though as in years gone by people would look up the changes to see if it effected them in any way. nowadays you just look to see how much more money they are going to grab of you and when its not quite as bad as expected then its been a good budget. no one ever scores anymore except the chancellor.

Mate its swings and roundabouts, they arn't the robbing barstard you make them out to be!

What do you think they spend the money on? it doesn't line their pockets! Any more or an less than it did in years gone by anyway, all these scandals of sons of MP's earning £50k and not doing any work arn't any more frequent now, just better reported since MP's never used to have to declare their spending publically.

The PM earns in the region of 70k, your average doctor, MD, Solicitor or accountant earn the same or more, but the PM's money is fixed regardless of what he does.

All the money they get in goes on services for the public, argue that you arn't getting your share of the services but you can't argue they are robbing bastards.

The idea of the budget is to re distribute the wealth of the nation to the nation to keep vital and social services running for our benefit.

i agree that the budget is meant to redistribute the wealth around the country but its not meant to be distributed around the world.
the £70000 for an mp doesnt sound like much but when you take into account all the perks and expenses they can claim without even handing in receipts it adds up to a lot more and when you consider that they vote as they are told and can be bought and sold as a commodity its a waste.especially as parliament is becoming even more toothless due to the signing up to various EU treaties and human rights acts rendering them almost totally pointless . the amount of money thats squandered and wasted on pet projects and endless technology fiascos.that has to come from somewhere i suppose.

it doesnt matter how much we "greet and moan" and demonstrate neither the government nor the oil companies will give in because 1/ they have each other to blame, and 2/ they have got us over a barrel (excuse the pun) we aint exactly all going to stop buying petrol/deisel, are we?

It is but thats not what todays government look at!

An E30 will never be as good on fuel as a Mondeo, thankfully because of the age of an e30 it doesn't fall into the new tax bands that have been created else we would all be stuffed.

The bottom line is that every Year the British public is made worse off by the government. I don't think public services are necessarily getting any better or worse but every Year a little more out of all out pockets goes to keeping them that way. Petrol/Diesel keeps going up and we can't do a damn thing about it - we have to put up with it.
What really annoys me is this huge "green" smokescreen - they don't give a toss about the environment - its just an excuse to tax us all - especially the motorist - for more money.

Rant over !

Yeah, that's what gets me too. If GB just stood up and said, "We've got 8 years worth of war to pay for, now cough up", then I might have a little bit of respect for him for telling the truth (whatever the truth may be).

The way I see it is, in most cases, people are using their cars because they NEED to get somewhere. Raising fuel tax isn't going to stop anyone from trying to get to work/home.

You lot moan way too much. In Poland we hit the 40% income tax bracket by August (anything over 15k per annum), the National Insurance payments are another 200quid a MONTH on top of that, and our doctors only get a grand a month in wages. The country has one motorway, which costs seven quid to use, and fuel has just got to the pound a litre mark, even though the wages over here are half what they are in England.

All in all, we pour far more money into the system and get fuck-all back, compared to what the UK population gets in return for its taxes.

The main thing that really fu*king pisses me off with our govenrment is the the way they try to tax us off the roads and on to public transport.

The public transport where I live (manchester) is utterly shite, to get to my work I'd need 7 different buses from 3 different companies and it takes just shy of 2 hours, it's 5 miles away and takes me 20 mins max in heavy traffic in the car. I also start at 5.30am every other week and the bus service doesn't start until 6 am.

To take the train to either my parents (carlisle) or the outlaws (northampton) costs over £80 return for me and the wife and then a £15 taxi fare on top, travel time is nearly 2 1/2 hours barring the usual delays and cancelled trains. In the car it costs £45 in petrol and takes 2 hours.

Public transport in britain blows :x

We seem to lead the world in wasting tax payers money, millennium dome anybody ?. If they stopped wasting it on crap we don't want or need we would have a better country and be better off as well.

New labour boils my p!ss :soap:

Cheers,

Iain T

Oil is $100 a barrel or thereabouts.

$2 to £1 or thereabouts.

But we're still getting humped over those barrels daily

didi you see the poles are coming on bbc2? cant fault the poles at all but what was worrying was on arriving in britain they were not accounted for at all! a coach arrived, they got dropped off and went straight out to work with no questions asked! what was more worrying and made me sick to be british was when the presenter asked some british youths "would you like a job for £7 an hour?" the lad replied "doing what?", presenter replied "picking butternut squash", they laughed and walked off (while cracking a can of stella open in daylight, in public) saying "haha, i'd rather sign on than do that!"

britains f*cked because of the british. i'm moving to france in 4 years time, cant bloody wait.

France? why the hell would you want to go there. I didnt realise we lived so close to a 3rd world country till i had the misfortune to drive through it! I think 60% of the population is employed by the government to help reduce un employment. Hence the constant road crews picking up litter, and the nicely layed roads.

Agreed tho, there is something deffo wrong with Britain. But im thinking more along the lines of emigrating to NZ or Canada.

^^^^ why you want to move to france?? Just came back from there a little while ago, found it well boring, maybe its where i went, the only good thing i found their was their motorways, wish it was the same down here. The overtaking lanes are used for that purpose, over here its used as another lane, and at least they move out of the way when they see another car coming behind them, over here, its just riddiculous.

Oh and i was thinking of moving to Dubai... the weather, no tax, earn what you work for...

"yes thats right mate, i'm the one with the problem here!"
