Know how you feel Jim

After rolling the tourer last week,i don't think i can actually be bothered to rip everything out and fit it into another shell

Might be a good time to move on like i've had to do

Gone to the dark side now and bought an E39 528i SE Touring out of necesity, as in,i need a vehicle tio get me out n about, to do the shopping/beer run etc

And hopefully it'll be pretty reliable, just like my old E30 Touring

Tis a sad day though

Thats the beuaty of E30's, I'll be honest it annoys me sometimes too, but then other times it just gives me the excuse I need to convince the missus to let me spend money on the car.

My car seems to be one thing after another, fan belt, losing water, getting hot, petrol leaking, people breaking in, etc etc.

Oh well when the arse is hanging out it doesn't seem to matter...

I found the same thing with both my E30 and my Mercedes 190, so i took them both off the road to fix everything all in one big go. It has meant using something else as daily transport and i have had to go onto nightshifts to allow use of just the one car between me and my Wife, but by the end of this year i should have as near to a brand new E30 as possible, with some decent mods thrown in.

I got totally sick of chasing problems around the car every few days and then wearing everything out at a completely uneven rate. A big rebuild like this might be a costly option, but the E30 i will have at the end of it will be perfect, or as near as it can be.

Thats how things go I suppose.
Had a whole day Sunday sorting out the car, set tappets, oil filter, throttle cable, sorted power steering leak, had a really productive day, greesed everything, washed her.
and then!!!
Today speedo stops working, radio stops, all right a simple job but it makes me think, I should have bought that Skoda VRS last month..
But then I sit back and think how much this thing costs me each month, alot less than repayments on a new car, and when its running well it feels better than a new car..

Its just the things that go wrong along the way. :D

Alan still trying to be positive.

My Primera, being Japanese, was quite good mechanically... I had to sort the exhaust mounts, new clutch (used Black Diamond to replace stock as was worn) fit new seals in where a minor oil leak was, my engine mounts were worn/cracked (one was broken) and my NATs system shorted my fueling setup, but aside from that ran smoothly... Might have put new suspension on it and was desperately looking for GTi-R or polysomethingoranother engine mounts, but it was all good otherwise...!

148k on the clock, most the stuff was just age related, and being chain driven I've heard of SR20's doing 300k miles before so she woulda hit 170+k for me I reckon :P

But some eejit had to hit it didnt they?! Engine still works (and most of the car) if anyone's after an SR20DE :P

The issues of having constant fix-ups and jobs to do are what got me out of an E30 a couple of years ago. I just got fed up of an ever increasing list of crap to deal with. This is what got me into more reliable jap stuff.

It gives me more incentive to do a proper job on the touring and replace most of the wear out components so that the car will mechanically be pretty new and hopefully a reliable daily driver.
