Hello again... I am back, but seriously looking for a 325 this time!!

I had, for a very short time a 318 and loved it, so need more. I drive a Mk2 Golf GTI at the moment, but so seriously want a 325 the golfs now on ebay. The only thing that puts me off is fuel. What is the going average when driving one "steady"? Not caning it everywhere but just pootling and occasionally opening the taps for overtaking and stuff?

I can get 300 miles to the tank in the golf, I know the 325 isnt about fuel economy but I do 20 mile round trip to work everyday, could bankrupt me  :D

Thanks

Expect around 26mpg average, more on motorway cruises.

I get over 300 to the tank out of mine, drive mostly a roads at speed 55mile round trip to work a day. Do give it some beans as and when required and make the lsd earn its keep!

average on the obc is normally between 28 and 30 though i did get almost 40 on a recent trip (took bloody ages though!) 8O
It is meaningless to ask; which is real, 'real' or imaginary? It is simply a matter of which is the more useful description

Agree with Speedtouch

Mine usaully averages about 25-26mpg unless i'm "letting it stretch it's legs"

With 4 in the car/3 kayaks and all our gear/luggage I averaged about 22mpg on a 1700 mile trip

somewhere on the RN85 between Gap and Grenoble in southern france

My 325i takes £50 to fill it up, I can usually squeeze 250ish miles to a tank full. Some careful driving, some flat out driving. The straight 6 sounds so nice at full chat, I cant resist nailing it!

I have just had an inspection II done and I think this has made the economy slightly better. Maybe coz the valve clearances have been done??

£55 of fuel = 200 miles on the motorway, 150miles around town if I drive like ghandi.

No idea what that equates to in mpg but I know it sucks balls.

I used to get 250-300 when driving round MK for work including a 10min peak hour bash when I had the 2.5.

In the V8, I'm getting 300 ish to 50 quid on the motorway, and about 170 in town (I moved closer to work, now the car doesn't warm up properly - waiting to get my LPG fitted)
