Engine will cost you 4k or more, then you need the gearbox, custom prop, you'll need to move the brake servo and or mod the intake to make the engine fit. Then you;ll need all the EWS guff from the donor, and then theres the wiring, will cost the home DIYer best part of £8k when done I reckon thats a conservative guess, you could go mad and spend more, or you could shop around and buy cheap and spend less. I think most people on the forum who have done this will have spent between £7k and £10k on this swap.

Theres so much work involved expect a garage to charge £15k or considerably more to do the swap for you.

I see dugie's not getting a gentle introduction to the E30 zone.

With reference to the price of an engine swap - you can find this info for yourself by looking at damaged vehicles and buying them complete and removing the bits you need. You may also find engines available. You need to consider if you can do any work yourself or pay someone else.

Costs are reasonably high for this and searching around the forum will give you an idea of time/cost implications of this engine swap.

Turbo gives reasonable returns for the money.

Consider a supercharger that has been developed for the 325i by Ant on this forum who trades under the name A-Tech. All details are in the engine swap/FI section. He also installs turbos.

Best way as always is to first decide how much money you are willing to throw at the project and then consider your options.

 Welcome.
