you're not gonna believe this...
i've just rang the DVLA to confirm how many points i've got on my licence and to ask him whats going to happen when i reply to the DVLA.

bit of background, the other week i was pulled up for speeding, while in the police car the radio came across saying i was on 9 points, i though i was on 6. i asked the policeman if he was going to give me 3 more and disqualify me and he said yes. i did the remorseful act and after a lecture he let me off.
so i thought by replying to this letter about the traffic light incident i would get the other 3 points, 3 plus 9=banned hence me not sending my licence off and just ignoring the problem.

however on ringing the DVLA the guy told me the 3points had already been put on for goin through a traffic light, so my total is 9 all included.

i asked him about the revoking and he said you havent been revoked, its just to put the sh!tters up you. so i said what do i do now?

and he said i can see on the screen that you've applied online for a new licence, we'll send you that with the 9 points on and thats it, case closed.

thanks again for all your stirling advice but it appears all is well! just have to be careful from now on and not sweep it under the carpet again!

the relief!?

I wouldn't of thought so, if you can take good care of it without ragging the nuts off of it I'd say keep it.

An iS isn't exactly a licence loser just be sensible and you'll be alright I reckon.

I nearly lost my licence when I had my first E30, which was bright red - sold it on when I got to 9 points. They're like red rags to bulls with Old Bill :(

I got done in mine by sneaky buggers in an unmarked car with Vascar going over the Dartford bridge (6 points) then by a c*nt hiding behind bushes one morning on the way to work along an empty stretch of road (3 points).
Thanks, Essex plod!

Why should they be banned? because you got caught? boo-fkin-hoo, you got caught because you did wrong and you know it.

I've watched both your threads now and seen your comments swing randomly from sensible to those that would be made by the saxo loving barry crew hanging out down maccy d's, I don't think you have learnt your lesson and I bet you loose your licence sooner or later with that attitude.

Coincidentally, I had a black Merc 190E after the points had dropped off my licence! Nice car but was a bit stodgy compared to the E30 I thought.

Indeed, they're there to stop nutcases behind the wheels of cars potentially endangering themselves but other innocent people! Just be a sensible road user and you'll find yourself out of trouble.

i have learnt my lesson, its steady eddie from now on. my attitude towards unmarked police cars come from my hatred of the police, all of my housemates have been mugged in the last 12 months and where are they? catching the likes of you for petty driving offences. i'm not a dangerous driver, i dont cane it round through traffic, i dont go speeding past schools and you'll certainly never see me on a car park. when i got pulled over the other week it was for doing 40 in a 30, i knew the police car was behind me i just thought it was a 40, it was a dual carriageway for christs sake!!! apart from that havent been pulled for speeding for 2 years. i realise my other thread was completely immature but f'ck it, i was merely stating that when the roads clear and there's no-one about i'm goin through a phase of thrape-ing my car!

Agreed I dont believe there is a car for sale today that cant break the 30mph speed limit. Its how fast you drive it. I have had a 1275cc Chevette over various legal limits when I was younger, just been lucky. Lots more speed cameras around now. God that makes me sound old.

dude, if youve got 9 points, you probably drive a bit like me (metal to the pedal most of the time) and as much as you TRY and change your driving style, you cant (i tried before). The best thing to happen would be for them to ban you and then let you start with a fresh licence. my dad got caught doing 108 on ther m4. they banned him for 30 days and he's got a clean licence again now. bargain.

Try a bit of wood under the pedal :teehee:

Or do some karting, my road driving really slowed when I was karting. 100mph in a car is nothing to 75mph in a kart so why bother, leave the racing to the track.

Yes but that's on a track with slick tyres and no suspension, sat about an inch from the floor.

To make you laugh,

A mate had a M3 Evo2 got pulled over for speeding and was taken in to the police station by meat wagon (got a bit violent).

The copper that brought his car back to the station subsiquently got pulled by another police car and got 3 points for speeding as well as impersonating a police officer until proven he was a police man.

Lucky indeed, mate!

I got my first speeding ticket last week through the post; must have been caught on a hand-held gun! I'm not sure they can put points on my UK license, but there was a 90 euro fine........
