Fitted the IS suspension and breaks from Karans "shell" the other weekend, and i must say there is a major improvement from stock 318i suspension/brakes.

Card handles, so much better, have a lot more front end feeling. Brakes are so much better! Nearly had a new astra in my boot when i used them on the fast lane of the m6 on sat.....lol!

In terms of brakes, i used ATE racing blue fluid, which might be helping a bit! *****Eurocarparts are selling it for around a Ԛ£10********** go buy and change your fluid its easy!

Thanks to karan, for the help when couldn't work out how to undo the balljoint nuts......

Such an improvement i drove from Anglesey (through snowdonia) to London in under 3.5 hours, thats 250miles, with an AVERAGE speed of over 70mph, not bad for a little m10. Even had to follow a bus for a little while in thte mountains....

Can't wait to do the clutch, lightened flywheel and short shift! Have most the parts, but just need the time.....

Sounds good Gwynleym10, i wouldnt mind swapping my running gear to that of an iS or 325.

But i was just thinking, ive never seen iS suspension upgrades, is it has the larger 51mm front struts but not the weight of a 6 pot engine, so what do you use?

Yes i know that  , i just mean i havn't seen listings for iS after market suspension, only 51mm struts for the heavier 6 pot, so what do you use for the lighter 4 pot?

Does that make any sense

Mabye 4cyl Touring front bits and 6cyl saloon back bits?

Probably more chance of finding iS aftermarket springs etc. than 4cyl Touring bits though

Hi Gwynleym10,

Very impressed at your avarage speed thru snowdonia... which way did you go? I hope you get plenty of pocket money to cover your fixed penalty fines... we have the highest speed camera to car ratio on the planet i think! They hide you know... :?

It was the rather splendid A5, been going up and down it since before i was born....! Took me an hour from Anglesey to England (chrik)

Yes i'm well aware of North Wales and its speed camera's, my parents live on anglesey so i'm up there a lot. One vital flaw with their supposed "hidden camera's" is that they have to put them in the local papers when and where they are goig to be! always have a read of them and never speed in the 30's. Think i know where pretty much all of the hidouts are. It was also at 10 o clock at night and most of them are well home by then! but i'll wait for a couple of weeks before i get too cocky......:x :x :x

So your from Dolgellau eh? Ever get down to Aber much? Lived there for five years when i was at uni? Ever go in the Llew Du?

iS uses same springs as sports
Are we sure about this? surely the front end would then sit higher up? with the less weight.

Had a quick look at the online etk and the part numbers seam to be different?
but not sure.....

The iS uses the same suspension all round as the Sport as far as I know - remember, the sport has it's battery in the boot, which probably evens things up a bit.
