Had My shoot for Max Power yesterday (Shhh, dont say it out loud) It was actually quiet a laugh. The PBMW one was all very professional. The photographer just took my keys, drove the car onto the runway and did his stuff for 3 hours. Hardly any driver involvement at all, but the Max P one was mostly with me driving the car or standing next to it (A few cheesy shoots of me doing my chave bit standing on my seats with my arms raised, so you've been warned  ) Anyway everything was going great and i was stood there chatting to the feature writer whilst the photographer was doing his stuff with the engine running so he could take pitures of the screens, when i noticed green water gushing out of my engine bay. I rushed over and switched the engine off and poped the bonnet and my water tank was bubbling like a Volcano. We left the car to sit for an hour, then filled up the tank and switched the engine on and within a few munites it was bubling again. I rang my engine builder and he talked me through a few things to do, but it didn't solve the problem, so we had to stop shooting. They'd taken quiet a few pics by then (Some really impressive ones too ), so we decided to call it a day. I rang the AA to come and get me and explained to the dopey lady on the phone not to send a patrol man as an over heating engine could not be fixed in 5 minutes by the roadside so to send a truck straight away. She was being difficult at first, but i explained to her that she'd be wasting both my time and the patrol mans time by sending him as i was 100% positive he wouldn't be able to fix my car. She agreed in the end, so i sat there in the car waiting for my truck. An hour later, a patrol man turns up (by this time i was spitting feathers) He didn't even pop my bonnet when i explained what the problem with the car was and he said he had to radio for a truck, which meant another hour sitting in my car by the road side. Luckily, the guy in the truck was a diamond geezer, and we had a laugh, so the journey to take the car back to the garage wasn't too bad. I just hope they can fix the damn thing before the weekend so i can go to the surrey meet now.

Jeez mate - sorry to hear that, what a nightmare.

Is the shoot now finished or will you have you got to take her back again?

Hope you get it fixed up, can't wait to see it on Sunday in the metal...
Mark.

Bugger bugger bugger!

You're going to a meet down south, and I'm off to a meet Ooop North on the same day...! Will I ever get to see this car...? :poke:

Sorry to hear about your misfortune dude. Hope you manage to get it sorted out and it's nothing major.

Looking forward to the PBMW feature... might have to sneak a peek in the shop at the Max shoot... don't wanna be seen buying the thing!

AA are the wost breakdown Company out there. They damaged my flip car the last time i had that towed. The twat didn't secure the car down and the poor thing was bouncing all over the back of the recovery truck until i asked him if it was secure. His reason was that he couldn't get the belt around my wheels. End result of that was a cracked rear bumber, and cracked side skirt.

Geeman, you should have a look at the Max P mag mate (Comes out early March) I saw the pictures on the laptop after the shoot and there were some really nice one's in there. Totally different from the PBMW ones as that was a lot more professional and this was a lot more bling, bling meets chave sort of fun. I hope it's nothing major with my engine either. Either way, i'm sure i'll run into you soon enough mate. Either at a meet or at Rockingham in the summer

Well just to counter that. Nearly a year ago, my old Escort dropped its valve at 1am Thursday Monrning. Explained it was knocking then wouldnt restart and the low loader turned up in about 35 mins. No grief No Patrol man. 5 mins to load and off we went.

Im with the RAC n when i blew the gearbox up on my old Astra GSi i rang em up n told em not to bother sending a patrol man - it werent gonna be fixed! So they sent a truck straight away. It was cool as the guy was a top guy n was well into his cars so we chatted most of the 7hr journey home lol

I think in the end it all boils down to who you get at the other end of the phone. I'm sure there are some who know a bit about cars, so when you explian that the gasketur car was possibly gone or that the car was badly overheating, they would understand your point that the car wouldnt be fixed in 5 minutes by the roadside and will send the truck straight away. On the other hand, there are those who know nothing about cars so think you're trying it or like to follow the script exactly as it is wrtten so will send the Patrol man out to check first.

I think breakdown services do a truly wonderful job. My gripe is having to wait for 2 hours, when it could have been avoided. Cars back home now anyway. They said they just bled it and left it running for an hour and it was fine. I did poo myself a little on the way home cause it was in the middle of rush hour and there was quiet a bit of traffic about, so i had to sit idle for quiet a while, but it's fine so roll on Sunday

i'm glad you enjoyed the shoot - that's what it's all about at the end of the day. i'm pleased for you that you didn't have to take the head off the engine too and investigate further - loads of grief avoided.

i can sympathise with the aa though - when i worked with computers the number of times a user would tell me exactly what was wrong with the machine/network/server whatever but invariably they were wrong. that's why they did their job and i did mine. i bet the aa get loads of people tell them the gearbox has gone when the clutch cable has snapped and the like... it got to the stage where i listened to the user and smiled and nodded and completely dismissed what they were telling me.... so don't take it personally.

hmm this surrey meet - i've already committed to the missus but i'll see if i can get out of it...

I hear you placey. You know how it is though mate!! In the middle of a shoot your engine starts to overheat and you have to stop shooting. By then you are already right on the edge and things that you might normally have a laugh about suddenly dont seem so funny anymore. Like i said, i think these guys do a wonderful job rescuing stranded folks, so i guess they can be forgiven for not listening to everyones assessment of the problem with their car.

You should come to the meet mate. It will be really good. The responce has been great and i'm looking forward to meeting a few folks for the 1st time
