Just a quick horror story!

Was driving home last night with a friend up a common & busy shortcut between woking & guildford. Now halfway up the road, which is very bumpy and narrow, and is also surrounded by trees, there is a gypsie sight on the left (has been there years), then a small hump back bridge that goes over a rail track then a pub on the right.

I use the road all the time day & night; anyway last night as i turned down the road i was doing about 50mph, & as i approached the campsite a bottle was hurled from the entrance, clearly aimed at my windscreen, which struck on the drivers side wing mirror. Realising that they were gypsies i considered no thought but to carry on. Anyway the next corner is an immidiate small left hander after the entrance to the sight, which goes over a bridge. As i came round the corner there were four tyres, equally spread over the road. Somehow in a split second decision my mate and i decided we were not going to stop for obvious reasons; I tried to aim the car so that a front tyre would hit the bumper but that i would not directly drive over one. Went through them at about 40ish mph. Could see fibreglass etc flying everywere but carried on (thankfully) all the way home. Called the police etc who moved the tyres but they said no one was found (suprise)!

Just been out to check the damage; all i can say is that i was lucky the bottle hit the wing mirror & not the windscreen or drivers door glass. The wing mirror itself has no glass left at all, no working motor and has a huge crack up the front of it. The valance is comedy! Will have to ge a picture up later but it looks like im going back to an i.S. lip for now if i can find one

Quite a horrible experience really, so when your driving around at night and you think roads are safe these days thinks agian!

Probably good that you didn't stop dude. Glad you and your mate are ok. That's a pretty serious game of public endangerment that presumably the gypsies are up to. Shame about the car but as you intimate it could have been much worse. What do you plan to do next? Will you ignore it as an isolated incident or do you expect it again? I sincerely hope not!

You could write to the council/papers/MP as the police can't do much in these cases.

not a bad idea - but send in a little note first letting them know why.

Have spoken to the police already who sent someone there and said they treating the incident extremely serioulsy. They were quite interested in roughly how much damage had been done & have made me file in a full police crime report. Unfortunatly its an established sight that has been there a long time so i do not think that a lot will get done!

It's clearly karmic retribution because you stole Katie from me!

The new album is out in a few months so that should make you feel better. Can we expect a Katie/Dan duo on it? I'm sure you've got a lovely singing voice ;-)

Jesus sounds rough Dan, think you did the right thing for the sake of damaging your car you've saved the theft of your car and personal belongings which in the long run is all that matters. But i agree with the above comments go back at 4am get a series of bricks an proceed to chuck through caravan windows, followed by some flash bombs (always a giggle)

Good to hear your ok though!

Get some smack head to torch a van or two for 100 quid, but not yet. Revenge is a dish best served cold. You did the right thing. I reckon if you'd tried to reverse out of trouble they would have chucked something nasty out in the road already to cover that eventuality. Clever Bastards.
I'm glad you're alright

My thoughts exactly, feckin pikey bastards deserve everything they get.

You can bet that nothing will happen on the police front, they're too bloody yellow to confront pikeys.

Years ago my mates car had several theft attempts by pikeys staying at a local camp, they never came back again after we hooked it up to the mains  . How we laughed as they scarpered

You definatley did the right thing by not stopping Dan,damage limitation an all that.

My brother works for Network Rail,he was telling me a classic pikey trick...

"Damage" fencing alongside track, wait for train, push a horse in front of said train, claim compo for thorough bred horse due to damaged fencing :x :x :x

If i was you mate, id send a letter (in crayon and capital letters so there is a better chance of them reading it) to the 'do what you likey' camp on the other side of town, pretending its from the first camp, stating there a bunch of inbread gayboys. And then sitback and watch the action. would be great on youtube. Just my opinion ofcourse.

I find a good breaker bar is always good for the nuts out there, its a very firm solution to ANY problem you may with your nuts, or the nutters surrounding your car. Failing that my gf keeps some of her musical cd collection in my car, that enough to scare most people off (being 6"4 driving down the road with Avenue Q blasting out doesn't make you look so big) :o:

Sorry to hear this mate, what front lip did you have on the car? Anything rare?

As for going back and 'battering' them, don't. They are gypsies, not a few chavs on a friday night. Sadly you will come off worse, its one of those things you cant win with :( . Hope you sort the car soon.
