It amazes me that people buy expensive to maintain BMW's and then can't afford to maintain them. Clutches aren't really expensive things unless you're paying for someone to fit one too.

It's like people come on here and ask "How to I get more power??? Oh but my budget is only Ԛ£50 and I want at least 20bhp"

Ԛ£85 for a clutch kit is about right, try GSF or ECP and you won't go far wrong.

or he can buy the one that im taking off my breaker for Ԛ£25.

Adam, you just made 2 contradicting statements that BMWs were and were not expensive to maintain. Cut the guy a break, we all have hard times.
Jibbers, you can have mine cheap if you are short of Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£ and arent bothered about a second hand one.

I did not contradict myself. I said that they are expensive to maintain, which they are. They're an old car and things regularly need replacing. What I said was that clutches weren't expensive.

Why do you find it necessary to argue with me all the time.

Sorry mate, im not intentionally trying to argue with you i promise. My appologies if it seems that way, i assure you im not trying to. :)

As we know, if a car is kept in good nic, they dont need much, and are not expensive to maintain, coz things dont go wrong. Newish cars are just as bad. NEW cars are expensive to maintain IF something goes wrong... id say older cars are cheaper to maintain IF something goes wrong. Anyway, depends how u look at it.

Sorry if that seems im argueing too.

I Personaly i don't think they are ( i know m10 bits are cheap) but using ECP and GSF I think you can run one pretty cheap. Places like halfords charge through the nose for bmw parts, and never have them in stock.

My 18 year old car is a hell of a lot cheaper to buy parts for than my mates 10 year old civic, its also a damm sight cheaper to insure (and his civic is only a 1.4)

Maybe the parts for bm's are more expensive than fords/vauxhals, but are there parts so good/going to last so long?

If you think somethin is going to be expensive, then it probably will be, because you won't find out where/how to do it cheaper.

One thing that is true is that some "cheaper" parts can be a false economy, and you will end up replacing it sooner than you would the more expensive one. This is particulary true with something like a clutch which has a lot of labour to get it in/out.

Also whats wrong with the clutch? its nothing hydrahlic is it cause thats cheap/easy to replace/

Girls , girls , girls........ what is this handbags at dawn ? ! !
All i am doing is trying to save a bit of cash , money isnt the problem ,
if it was i would sell one of the two 320's i have got parked on my drive.
I was under the impression that this site is for members to help each other out , i would like to think that if somebody out there had gotten a part at a good price they would share the knowledge with others .

Thanks for the offer Scott325SE , Ԛ£85 was the price from GSF and its cool but it did not hurt to ask , cheers for the backing also ! !

JUST CHILL GUYS , WE ARE ALL GODS CHILDREN !

Be thankful your not running an Alfa 75 3.0 litre. The last one I bought cost nearly Ԛ£300 and I had to fit it.

I know Alfa's are scrap but 200bhp, rear wheel drive and 50/50 balance due to a trans-axle makes for huge fun.
