Yesterday morning i was going out to my work at 6am it had been raining for a while before i left the house and the roads were really greasy, i was going round one of the roundabouts brave and easy, was about to come off the roundabout and the back end stepped out really bad i corrected it straight away but because of the greasy road she swung straight round in the road and headed for the kurb.
there was f*ck all i could do at that point all i could see was the kurb, the drivers side front wheel hit and i looked up instantly to see were the car was for going and guess where?????? thats right straight in to a lamp post!
The rust free pride and joy is a complete write off and i couldn't be more heart broken!

Aye thankfully i walked away unharmed i was really luck in that sense.

i wouldn't of been so lucky if the e30's didn't have the build quality that they do.

There's the actual light in the pictures beside the drivers door didn't take a picture of the post but its still standing.

i know i over corrected it but its just easier to blame the greasy road.

she's insured fully comp but i'm not gonna bother with insurance because it'll likely bite me in the arse next year just gonna cut my loses.

i'm having a think about buying another sport aslong as she's rust free i can work with that.

That's what really fecks me off with insurance, you legally need it. It's supposed to protect you and give to piece of mind when these things happen. When they do happen, ok they'll pay out, but they expect you to pull doen your pants and take it in the arse for years to come.

Makes my pish boil!

Good luck in sourcing a replacement. The dead car may help on the money side of things.

Gutted

However, I sincerely hope that it stays the worst day of your life, for a long time - cars are only bits of metal afterall. That shell's fubar, but there's plenty of stuff that'll swap over onto whatever you find to replace it with. No need to search for another sport necessarily...

I saw the car parked on the verge just before 8:00am. Sad day but glad to hear that you are OK. What's the plan to rebuild into a good 2 door shell?

Be glad you've still got your legs dude. It's gutting but you'll get over it. I span my 944 Turbo into a concrete wall when I was 25 and I was gutted for weeks. You'll get over it though and in years look back and realise how lucky you actually were.

Did the car come from Manchester? The reg looks similar, I'm sure it's one of the Sports my little brother has owned.

If i get a mint shell i can take whatever i need outta the sport so i'll more than likely do that i'll definitely need another e30 because the sport was the most satisfying car i've ever owned.

i definitely know how lucky i am didn't realise it at the time but when i had a time to think i'm more than thankfull that i walked away from it. people have ended up far worse from far smaller accidents.

not sure where the car came from i bought it from some guys that bring them over here.

You'll need to inform the insurance wether you claim or not... I don't think you need to inform the police though as no-one was hurt.

I'd ring up and say "just mangled my car but not sure wether to claim or not, please can you give me next year's quotes based on (a) having claimed and (b) not having claimed so I can decide? ".

If you don't claim...then you keep your "no-claims"! The fact you crashed is almost seperate, the only other thing they'd hurt you on is if the police gave you points, which they haven't.

Anyway, glad you're ok, too close to nutting the lamp post for my liking, especially as the door is softer than the pillar. Always best to stick lamp posts/trees etc into the other side of the car from you if possible, that's why the navigator always gets it in rally crashes!

Ouch! 8O Like everyone else has said, very lucky to come away from that, even the interior looks mangled! I've been reading about so many E30's gettin written off and smahed recently and the wet road's have definately put me off unnecessary journeys like the convertible meet when it was p***ing down, I'm not writing off my motor for the sake of a meet, but if a day comes and it can't be helped so be it. glad your ok mate - Reshell!
