...all i have heard about the mot changing is its all going computerised. which means before the tester can start an mot he will have to log onto the ministry website and enter his and the car details.... then when he is finished he will go back on the computer and tell the ministry weather the car has passed or failed and what it has failed on. then oviously if it is passed the certificate will be printed out instead of hand written.
this is basically to check the times taken by each mot tester, and to stop the rushing through a mot and missing things. it is also to prevent fake tickets getting out.... no mot book and stamp to steal.
the mot test itself will not change therefor will not get any stricter.
as for the emmisions they will be the same, they cannot change the limits because since they came out every car is tuned to meet those limits.
the only way they could change the limits would be to say all cars made after 1.1.2006 have to meet the new limits. they can not change the old limits for pre 1992 or after because alot of cars would not meet them even at standerd spec.

No big deal really.....
It's not as if they can't have a coffee break rather than keeping looking for problems if they really wanted!

I don't get that....surely it's the mechanical condition of the car that results in a pass or fail, rather than a decision made by a person?

Funny subjects MOT,s I got a car mot,d and it failed on a tyre and a hole on the inside sill I got the tyre replaced and then took it to another garage as the hole they indicated they could never re-find!!
At the 2nd garage they failed the car on.......the tyre that had been replaced then told me they could not do the emissions test as there was low oil (even though the car had a full service a week before the mot)
Back at the garage I got it serviced they swore blind that the tyre was perfect and the oil had been changed!
Conclusion F**K them I do my own servicing and my mate mots the car after I have gone round it with him there is no reliability between them and I personally think its a matter of how busy they are and whether they want the work and hassle of doing a re-test
But I do agree Mot,s need to be done just watch Pimp my Ride proves that lol
Ok sorry my rant over now!
