Well, this is my sub/amp package going in at the weekend with the help of Bjorn.
Hopefully all will go well.
Altogether it only cost Ԛ£140 inlcuding VAT and postage so im well chuffed.
Not the most expensive parts, but it is only my first sub install and i can upgrade it easily in the future if i want to.
EDIT: Heres my 6x9 spacers i made the other day, so now the not just sat on the rear parcel shelf

Nice one!
I always wonder about publicly advertising that you've got a nice ICE install though - a bit like the "please steal me" chav Kenwood stickers!!

It comes with a JBL GTO 2 channel amp, and im going to bridge it, so it will kick out 260 watts RMS.
RMS for the sub is 250, so should be more than capable of powering it.

Schweet. I wired my headunit up the other night. That was fun considering the last owner just took a knife to them all to get their head unit out so I didnt know what any of the wires were.
Might put in my Rockford Fosgate sub and amp this weekend.

I just bought them from my local ice shop.
There 18mm MDF rings
Ԛ£7.99 for 2, and i used 2 for each side, so needed 4 altogether.
Then i just glued 2 together and painted them using my little brothers poster paint.
Job done
Do a search in Google and they should come up.

Well a massive thanks to Bjorn for his help in fitting my stuff.
A sound guy and has a very nice 318iS to.
Thanks alot mate, i couldnt find anywhere in the H/U manel to turn the sub/amp on, so just put those 2 RCA cables in the rear speaker output thing.
All works good now, and the base is well loud!!!
Thanks, Adam

Yea, its a 12"
And for Ԛ£140 delivered to my door the sound is amazing! And easily upgradable in the future if i wanted to.
Im not hammering it though at the moment, letting it bed in.
But it still does kick out some serious base(well sounds like it to me

Nice, C02 as well! I've got a couple of poofy air soft pistols. Use them to ahem scare the cats off the top of my avairy. which is 200ft away from the house.
I've never in the 2 years I've had them actually hit the cats but about 3 weekends ago I took a pop at one and managed to hit a 3 inch tall zebra finch and knocked it off the perch.... I think it's ok although I think I may have hurt his wing as he's flying round in circles now!

I take it the actual speaker is facing the back of the rear seats?
I mounted my pair of 12" facing away from the seats, was under the impression and certainly a few mates are also under the impression you get better results that way?
Nice install tho!

Yea it is facing in. I'll experiment moving it around i think.
I've just taken the metal ski hatch panel out and thought that was the best way to point it.
Thanks, Adam

I heard the same Mr long username something to do with the sound resonating against the boot first thentravelling forward into the cabin making it louder/deeper or something.

Bass is omnidirectional ohhh get me with the big words
basically it dnt matter where you put your bass speakers just that theyre wired up correct and well fitted this is something to do with the fact that we dnt hear 90% of the bass produced anyway unless you get a tuned and ported box so face it anyway you want wnt make a difference but do make sure your ski hatch has gone so the sound can enter the cabin cheers Daz
facts came from smart arse stepdad who has built some major speaker cabs in the past and spends half his life on the fone to an expert at fane

daryll's right you know, if you turn the sub aroud so it's facing out the boot you will get a deeper more punchy bass line
quick edit*** thats my own experiance tho, i had them every way i could and facing out the boot seems a hell of a lot better

I also didn't punch the hatch through as the boot now works as a sealed box as opposed to a ported unit...it sounds the dogs danglies and is as clear as daylight. I thought it would be quiet with no holes but within a week I have lot the hearing in my left ear!

Omnidirectional, maybe but as the speaker is mounted on the box and not within it, the sound would surely be influenced by this. If the sub was boxed in equidistantly from the edges then maybe. Also varying pressures in the box from the movement on the cone, like sound travelling through air and water must have an influence.
I think!

hahaha cool!!
I love subs, I've not heard mine in 6 months as the car was with a garage, free winter storage while they fitted in fixing it for an MOT.
Sound people really for doing that. I gave it to the mechanic last october said, "I'm not in a rush to get her back" Eventually got it back 3 weeks ago but I've lost the face for the head unit!! A mate is lining up a head unit for it for about Ԛ£50 so well happy soon!
I picked up a pair of SilverKendwood 700w 12" subs with the tornado design on them, a 1000w 4 channel bridgeable Kenwood amp with a wiring kit for about Ԛ£380 if I remember rightly with the thought of upgrading the budget cones for something better. The amp is cool tho.
Needless to say I have been well pleased with them. Would also reccommend pioneer v.c.c.s subs if on a budget, a mate runs a pair of a Alpine v12 (did until it was knicked) and they were unbelieveable for the pice.
Once mine are working again, will show a couple of the young mechanics who have subs what big bass is really all about hahahahaa!!
