Going to get my car tracked at the front this week, and new tyres fitted ;)

So going to find out what its at before i make the rear axle so i have a starting point, so come on whos going to be closest,

CAMBER :
TOE :

it is low and traction is very little at the rear :D wonder why.. new axle being made as we speak :D

I better point out, i've not drove on them tyres like that... i drove home with them low (300ish miles) and they went through to the metal, i have not drove the car and don't intend too, got new tyres on the way.

Just so you guys didn't think i was driving around on them !

Why the f*ck is the toe in so bad?

Mine's lower than that and the camber is worse, but they still sit straight with the body!

Looks like you've bent something to get them like that :eek:

They are both the same, the car is very low, remember these are on 15inch wheels.

the messuremnt from the top of hte rear arch to the floor is 21inches.

messure yours see what its like.

But i promise you they are the same... so they are not bent or anything like that, its a 60mm loweing kit with a coil cut off the back.

it is fully powerflexed also btw, and camber and toe was pefect when it was a stock ride hight.

Mine is on a 100/85 drop.

It used to be on cut springs, now on custom wound ones.

I have 15's.

I have no toe in.

Unless you have custome frame or arms installed, the natural bump steer will add camber and toe... if you've got no toe you've done something to get rid of it, or more likey its very little and cant see it, but its there.

otherwise why would companys sell camber and TOE correction kits if they don't toe in when lowered.

This is why most suspension kits only lower the car 40mm, this is for a reason as you hardly notice the problem.

If yours is lowerd 85mm at the back can i see a picture as thats much lower then mine and i'm hitting the diff off the ground.

Ahhh that does look a lot better. Still a bit much though... I cant see why lowering it would do that, though it possibly has more to do with the powerflex bits.

This is the only pic of mine I can find that shows how straight it is.

I think at this hight, the difference between 10mm is extreme, i think your getting to the point were it just goes silly.

I think mine looks a tad lower then yours... when it was on a 60mm normaly kit the wheels were half as bad as they are now.

So that would explain it.

Shows the drop a bit better.

I'm on the wrong profile tyres too, overall radius is about 1.5" smaller than original.

You got me thinking though so I just went and ckecked, my rears are dead straight :?

wired.. the only thing i've done different is, i have an axle on the car off an normal car, i wonder if the touring is different ??!

you've got me worried now :S as i swaped it with someone :(

also i was going to say you look like your smaller..

i'm on 205/55/15's

so normal size.

Yeah the arch to wheel gap looks a touch smaller on yours. But With the lower profile tyres I'd say the underside of mine may be a bit lower...

Either way, yours looks :cool:

Just odd that the toe in is so bad :?

As far as I know the axles are the same, but I stand to be corrected as I've never really thought about it.

I dont know about the bush setup on the back, but is it possible you used an eccentric poly bush and put it in the wrong way round?

out of interest, and sorry for going off topic, but whats the ride like on those shocks with it that low?

I'm still on standard shocks (yes I know, very bad) and its like driving on a trampoline. But the lowest shocks you can buy off shelf for this car are 60mm so was wondering if using them would make it better?

I dont mind it being harsh and a rough ride, the stiffer the better to be honest as I use it for drifting, I just want to get rid of the 'boingy-ness'.

Rear axel is the same on all E30's except the M3.......

I didn't fit eccetric bushes on the back... so i couldn't have messed that up :D

The reason yours is bouncy is because you've got progressive springs on there, i basicly got the stock springs and cut many coils off front and rear, to get the same drop, less coils = stiffer spring.. and i removed all the progressive ness out of them... so on stock springs and shocks, it was ok, bit bounce sometimes but you noticed it more going down back lanes flat out.. it rolled to crap.

Then fitted 40mm kit from spax, cut the progressivenes out of them too,, amazing on stock shocks,

then when i fitted this 60mm kit with adjustable shocks, the difference is amazing, the front really turns in well and the ride is lush, as i have them on softest setting. no more bouncy ness.

defo worth the money, but, i noticed on stock shocks the grip was amazing, even in the wet, as it bite nice, now with stiff shocks there is no traction and it just drifts everywere.

the car is fully powerflexed, so its a bit on the stiff side now :D

lol, you need to know how springs work i guess.

the tighter coils towards the top and bottom of a spring is the progressive part of the spring.. these move ad a slightly drifferet rate to that of the rest of the spring... so cutting these out will leave the large windings, which are not progressive.

Less coils you have, stiffere the spring becomes....

Hence why after market springs are few coils, stock ones have many tight coils ;)

things that effect stiffness, wire diameter and number of coils.

Clarkey - shot in the dark here but, have you checked to see if (if fitted) a spiggot ring for locating the centre hub of the wheel is on the wrong way round thus not allowing the wheel to be bolted to the hub flush??

that is a long shot as i don't have spiggot rings fitted to these wheels as they are the correct center bore size. as made for BMW.

but i would notice the wobble.. there is none, not to mention there would be funny tyre wear which there is not, its perfectly linier.

It's got me well stumped - i've only ever seen this once before but it was a five stud conversion and the wrong trailing arms where used!!

Are the trailing arms on yours now your originals?

they are off and other E30, god know what tho. but i cheaked them agenst the old one and they looks the same.

they were also disk rears.

I think its just how low it is tbh, but i'll find out for sure when i check the two agesnt each other,
