I think UBL 44Y is the only remaining BMW press car from 1983.

I heard that the launch cars are all dead now ................is this true or does someone know otherwise? The last one registered was in 2002.

think there all dead i used to have a A reg in 1998. only know to one A and B reg in wrexham A reg is mint in red and the B reg is in a blue/grey that wants mega tlc

Mines 1984 on a B plate. A guy has one the same colour as mine on a Y local to me but its pretty shagged. There carn't be to many Y's roming the streets these days.

UBL 44Y is still out there and probably will be for years. Every year its at Gaydon in the concours line up and is 100%mint. Hers a shot of it in 2005:

18/03/1983 AGU ***Y 320i in white
01/04/1983 RTH ***Y 316 in Basali Blue
25/05/1983 GW ** 1 owner from new! 320i in silver

My dads M3 came with repeaters, M3bens hasn't got any. Both cecottos so where made at the same time.

I was the owner of TRX882Y a 323i model for five years, I think this was a press car. I am told it is still in the Portsmouth area but not on the road.

My mums husband had a 318 auto in light met green on a Y reg a couple of years ago before they moved to Canada. Only visible rot was on the rear archs and rear panel, one owner before him. Dont know who he sold it to?

sorry - don't know that one...

but i have the original receipt when new for mine - he chose to add polaris silver metallic, power steering, central locking and a manual sunshine roof........... but no electric window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it was Henna red, with Electric sun roof, windows, mirrors, head lamp wash wipe, tinted windows, and central locking, the wheels were of the bottle top type. it was also totally reliable, when i sold it the mileage was approx 145000, the door sills and wheel arches had some rust in them. I believe it was first registered in Bristol. I will PM you if any more info turns up. Cheers.

RX was a Reading area registration IIRC, and I think still is under the current system as well. All BMW UK cars used to have Reading registrations, but they started registering them at the import centre in Thorne in 2005, so they now have Y something prefixes
