hiya ppl,

this is really a tankyou to all the ppl i have spoken to on the e30zone. ive met up with a few ppl.....andy335touring, mark and scott.

this is a great site and i saw a E30 316i 4 door in red today in the car park and reminded me of happy times in my E30 320i Calypso Red.

i loved the E30 and it had been my grandads from new (1990), but a couple of weeks back i be-grudgingly gave it in as part ex (i got £750 for it). unfortunatly there were a few things that started to wear on the car....mainly anything in the form of rubber! (slave cylinder, track rod ends, steering rack rubbers).

if id have had the extra space, time and money id have kept the car for many more years......i really miss the car though!

anyway enough of sobbing over that!......i bet you are all wondering what car i got to replace the 3 series, well its the Z3! 8). there was know way i was going to part from the German build quality i had become accustomed too in the E30!

its a 2000 (W reg) 2.0l, 6 cylinder, 24v facelift model (i couldnt swap for another bmw without it having a 6cylinder engine :D)

I bet you'll be back.

I have not met anyone yet who has moved from an e30 to a modern BM and not gone back even if its a second car. My e39 was great (in fact buying another soon as my every day car, My wifes e36 2.5 cabriolet is also nice and yes today it was fantastic. HOWEVER, it's still the old e30 325 cab that does it for me everytime.

Z3 is an E30 in drag. Just broken one (2.8), and everything looks like it'll drop straight into an E30.

I got to agree with B7. I've bought other more 'modern' cars but there's always an E30 in the background. In fact, I am probably going to be buying an E46 330 CI but I will not be selling my 325i Cab.

The suspension is very similar to an E30, but is the E36 compact chassis, with trailing arms rather than all the other E36s which had the very good (but boring) multi-link something-or-other rear suspension.

You'll love the Z3.... though you should have bought a 2800cc - lovely unstressed engine which was deliberately restricted to 193BHP, but 220BHP is a very easy mod :D

Have a great time
