hello to all. great website and cool cars...
i have a 91 e30 318i touring , i have aquired some rear headrests for it from a breakers yard. (they were of the front seats) , how do i put them onto my rear seats as mine dont have the holes there to fit them into. do all the seats have them hidden and its just a case of cutting holes in the fabric??
any help would be appricated.

You will need to buy a Headrest fixing kit which fits inside the seat - Not that expensive from the dealers.
This link is a graphic of the kit fitted to the rear of an M3....but I guess the kit is similar for a touring - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... 6c82b4f714

Mick
you will probably need a trip back to the breakers, cause you will need the bracket assembly's that are in the seat backs, complete with the round grommets to cover the holes in the seat material.

My SE had rear head rests in it when I bought it, they were just stuck down the back of the seat between the seat and the rear shelf/back panel.
I took them out as I wanted to hear my speakers and they were the wrong colour.

Don't think you can do that on a touing as the back panel isn't there.

Rear seat fitting bits for the TOURING ONLY are identical to the front seat bits. Go back to the breakers and raid a scruffy front seat.
It's possible to fit the tilting mechanism from a 2 door as well to the front passenger seat. Can be very usefull in a touring. All the bits are already there except the release cables and the levers.

There was a thread on this a little while ago.
It's on my "to do" list, but haven't actually done it yet, although I have done a bit of investigation.
The seat base has all the bits fitted, just needs the cables hooked on to operate. The seat backs (on my Recaros) have positions for the release levers, but the hinges for the levers would appear to need to be welded on to the seat back frame. Fairly minor, but would need the seat back to be undressed to do.
If you take the back off your existing seat, and compare with one of your folders, you should be able to see what I mean.
