....I have so many enquiries about my hardtop on the zone and they consist of one question with a request for prices and pictures and then majority of the time there is no follow up!

I dunno why i bother wasting my time sometimes!

ps. This doesnt include you Gazza as you bother to follow up :D

Rags,

I don't think this is Zone specific, it's just people in general

Things like your Hardtop are going to get more of this than cheaper parts as well. If you consider that a lot of people pay less for an E30 than you're asking for the hardtop, it put's it a bit more in perspective. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you are asking too much - far from it.

I guess the best way around this, is to put the price you want, and some good pictures in the original post. You'll still get people making silly offers, but the majority will at least be able to see what sort of figure you're after.

Cheers,

Ian.

It's a sad fact but unfortunately all too often true. The zone team have tried to consider ways of limiting access to the zone by making it subsciption based or forcing registration, but at the end of the day, this could severely affect the popularity of the zone. We've now got well over 2000 members and there's always going to be the chance of these wasters being in numbers like that, look at ebay! I remember trying to sell a car in Max Power and getting a load of hoax and joker calls at like 2am from people pissed up... it comes with the territory unfortunatley.

All I can suggest is that you make it clear that you don't want timewasters replying (without being offensive please!).

Your not a retail shop, people will always try and get things cheaper if they can get away with it.

my gripe is with people saying yeah yeah I am really interested etc..they know the price and they know what to expect......hardtops are expensive but they know that from the outset. Its not just the zone, you are correct, ebay is even worse.
What it boils down to is peoples lack of courtesy nowadays. They ask me a question, for pictures etc. I take the time to show them and then there is no answer, not even an acknowledgment. I have had this 10 or so times. Its fine, people do not HAVE to buy my item but ffs, it only takes a second to say 'sorry mate, not interested'.

Simple manners I say.

Good point made mate, I am not a retail shop!

Can I offer you some advice Rags.

Get some good clear photos of the item, followed by a good explanation of what you want, what you will consider and what you won't tolerate.

My offer to you is based having seen your car, read your posts and trying to offer a fair price?. As that one photo you sent me wasn't very clear!.

I have 2 Hardtops and paid top money for them.

I do know what your saying about being messed about, but i have nothing but good experiances on the zone.

Not trying to be clever in anyway.

Cheers Gareth. :thumb:

Andy,

still trying to see if the other one is shagged. Havent had much time due to new job.

Any news on the touring?

With repsect to selling parts, you just learn who is serious and who is not. If someones going to make the effort to phone you then they are serious enough. If its through PM's etc then it usually doesnt happen.

Good Luck with your new forum Ian!

Got to admitt, its just something that you need to put up with, I have loads of enquires, people not reading what I am selling, general things like that.

I have to say I only ask if I am genuinely interested.

Regards Mark.

I have done it a few times but not on purpose.

Let me think:

1) Wasted JonB's time with an exhaust centre section.

2) Annoyed Simon and this other guy when sold them the Alpina exhausts and they didnt fit 100%. But they did fit on my car no problem.

3) AndyP with gearbox - but dont know if the gearbox is shagged

4) Karan - exhaust, this is me being pure lazy but he knows I will come and get it because I cant be having the plants that its sitting on die.

Damn, looking at the above I would never deal with me!.......Yes I am a self confessed timewasting Scum bag.

[eSure advertisement voice mode on]

Calm down dear, it's only a timewaster

[eSure advertisement voice mode off]

:jester:

I know exactly what you mean Jon, but sadly, as you know, there are, and probably always will be, idiots/timewasters/twats/whatever you call them :soap:

But I find it more annoying when people come here and moan about it and start to point fingers at the Zone - think those are the kind of people who need to be :shoot1:

Hang on guys...

who said iI was pointing fingers at the zone?
8O
I was pointing fingers at common courtesy of individuals.....the zone doesn't cause people to be timewasters, it can be used as a means for advertising items you may wish to sell.

if you guys read what i typed, I am all for people being interested in a part but when they dont respond or acknowledge after that, that is what does my head in.

Sometimes you wonder about discussion forums, they are about discussion.

This is my opinion, so I posted it, end of, hardly means I should be booted off the zone for chrissake!

Don't think Bharat was talking about you mate...although I guess the title implicates the zone specifically...

I guess I have wasted a couple of peoples time (jonb included) over tourings for my old man - coz he won't make up his mind, so I have made enquirys that have come to nothing - is that timewasting ? I am sure I will do again coz I think he still wants one...

As Splondike said, I'm not targetting M3Rags specifically, but there are certain individuals, that I won't name & shame because they know very well who they are, which have been warned about passing comments.

A discussion forum is for that - discussion ! But you don't start passing negative comments about the forum if YOU think the forum is not being nice to YOU ? Well, tough. As has been said repeatedly (deja-vu feeling yet again :-x ) that this forum is a lot more relaxed than some of the others.

However, we want to try and keep it within control and not let it turn into a turnip-bashing melee of sorts like many other forums have become.

As for those who think the forum has gone down-hill or have grievances, well, as M5Pilot correctly pointed out - why are you here still if this forum seems to be a problem to you ?

Majority of the users on this forum are genuine users, not the kind who only come here to sell their bits or ask for information/help and not really contribute in any way.

But we have not shut the doors on such characters yet, as we feel that it would be unfair to the rest of the good people, if we started getting strict, and in the process good/honest/genuine users could get caught up and isolated.

As a result, we all WILL end up with instances where users who can get on our nerves and we may feel annoyed, and as is the acceptable process for grown-ups, we should talk about it with the concerned person, and ideally, do it outside the realms of this, or any other forum.

Last thing one should do is to pass comments or even attempt to drag the Zone into personal grumbles.
